WHAT TIME IS IT?
By: Robert Chauncey
Dear Sgt. Jones,
You do not know me, but I know
you. I'm what you police call a
psychopath. Tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. I am
going to kill someone! I will do it in
plain sight of you. If you can stop me
you will have saved a persons life.
More than likely you will stop me.
Killing time is 6:00 p.m. at the Sunshine Mall.
Your friend,
The Psycho
P.S.
Make sure your the only person that
comes or I might kill more than one.
The letter plagued his mind during
the drive to the mall. Sgt. Jones kept
on asking himself, "Why me?"
Finally he was there at the mall.
It was 9:00 a.m., he had nine hours to find the Psych, as the letter so
hauntingly put before the Killing Time arrived.
9:30 a.m.
Sgt. Jones walked into the mall and
went to the food court. He ate
doughnuts and had a glass of orange juice at the Breakfast House. I myself ate the breakfast special of eggs,
bacon, and apple juice. I wondered what
time it was? Oh darn it, my watch has
stopped, Who cares?
10:00 a.m.
"I don't want to scare anybody,
so I'm going to act as if I'm Christmas shopping," Sgt. Jones thought walking into Toy World.
10:30 a.m.
"Let's see I got my daughter a
Sega Genesis, my niece, a Barbie doll, and my nephew, a Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtle." Sgt. Jones said coming
out of Toy World. "I'll pick up my
brother a gift at Electronics Surplus."
11:00 a.m.
"I bought my brother a
computer mouse for his new computer,
and got "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" for my computer," Sgt. Jones said
walking out of the Electronics Surplus.
"I think I'll go eat now."
11:30 a.m.
"I decided to eat at Pizza
Palace. I ordered three slices of their
world famous jumbo pepperoni pizza. I
also got a large Dr. Pepper to drink."
12:00 p.m.
"I decided to go to a couple of
movies. The only movies that were
playing was a double feature:
"Batman Returns" and "Sister Act."
4:00 p.m.
"The movies were excellent! Now down to business, I"ve got two
hours left to find this psycho."
5:55 p.m.
"I've been trying to find this
psycho person for the past two hours now and still no sign of him. It looks like I'm going to have to stop him
before he kills someone. I've really
got to be on my toes now."
6:00 p.m.
"Where is he? Maybe it was all a bluff. Maybe there is no psycho after all."
6:01 p.m.
"Excuse me, sir, may I know what
time it is?" Asked a tall and
slender man to Sgt. Jones.
"Yes, it is 6:01 p.m.,"
answered Sgt. Jones.
"Oh dear I'm late," the man
said in a calm voice.
"Late for what?" Sgt. Jones asked curiously.
"Late for this," the man
said as he was pulling out a gun and shooting Sgt. Jones in the head four times. Sgt. Jones fell dead and the Psycho
disappeared into the crowd.
