A Very Simple Layout Making Tutorial by Lil_Laura_Kitty

I don't do layout requests anymore. So here's instructions on how to make one for yourself.

Layouts are very easy to make. This tutorial is just going to show you how to change the background, your logo (where it says bolt), and the background of the boards. I'm not going to go into detail on how to change specific things. You will have to figure those out for yourself or find a more detailed tutorial.

First find yourself a background and a background that you want for your boards. Lets say I want to make a layout about cats. I find 2 cat backgrounds. You must rename them by right clicking on the file name and going to rename. I rename one of them catbg.gif (my main background), and I rename the other one cat.gif (my boards background). I would name my logo, cat_logo.gif.

So you must name your files as following replacing just the word cat with what you named your files.

Background: catbg.gif

Board Background: cat.gif

Logo: cat_logo.gif

Your logo needs to be 775 width and 77 height. You can make it in photoshop or whatever paint program. I can make you a logo, but I won't make your whole layout. You need to make the layout first, and I will make you a matching logo.

Go to http://geocities.com/palaceholidays/wedding.css It should open in a new notepad document. You need to go to the top of notepad and click edit. Go to replace. Where it says Find What: put wedding and where it says replace put the name of your layout mine was cat. It will replace all the files and your layout should work. That simple.

One more thing, you have to change the font color. Go to Go to replace. Where it says Find What: put ffa9be and go on google.com and search for HTML color chart. Find the color you want and put it in the replace column.

Now create a geocities.com account.

Go to Easy Upload and upload your 3 images.

Open file manager.

Click New and Copy and Paste your notepad css code into it. Make sure you name it something .css ex. cat.css

Copy and paste this in your tagline after changing it to your geocities account name and layout name.

<style>#mainPageContainer{background-color:transparent;}</style>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://geocities.com/yourgeocitiesaccountname/yourlayoutname.css"/>

You could add <style>#mainPageContainer{background-color:transparent;}</style> into your css file and then you won't have to post it in your tagline, but I'm too lazy to go fix all of my layouts so that's why I post that too.

I'm not a teacher so this tutorial might not make that much since to everyone, but I tried! Have fun!
