The Temple of Luxor was built on the ancient site of Thebes Luxor. It was given its name by the Greeks at the time and is a great ancient city. For many centuries it was the capital of ancient Egypt.

Amenhopted III and Ramsses II were the pharoes who built the temple not to honour gods but to celebrate great festivals. They Built and expanded the temple to hold a lot of people because most festivities held there were going to have to be able to accommodate thousands and thousands of people.
