The Jester backed up after running into Gordon. They both started at each other for a moment. Blood began to flow from The Jester's neck. He fell to the floor.
"What... just happened?" Jill gaped at Gordon. She just noticed the wire in his hand, and that it was missing from The Jester's. "How did you get that?!" She said excitedly.
"I read earlier in this book that to gain the enemy's advantage, you must learn their story." Gordon stared at the book with the studded cover. Gordon wiped the dust off the title. "Slayer's Executioner's Guide".
"Slayer's Executioners? What.. are those?" Amelia asked, now chiming in.
"I read about it earlier, before we came to.. wherever this is. They are apparently chosen groups of people selected to destroy the murderers, slayers, and all those related." Gordon continued to stare at the Guide.
"Gordon... I don't want to do this! I've already been scared to near heart attacks!" Jill looked sad.
Gordon looked down at the book. "I'm afraid we have to. There's a war going on between The Slayers and The Executioners. As soon as that war is over, we can go back to our lives." He looked up at Jill. She looked dissapointed.
"What about Dad?!" She questioned.
"I guess he'll have to wait to see us for some time." Gordon looked at Amelia. "She's a victim. We saved her, and 'executioned' The Jester, now... we have to take the next one. Once we beat the third, we can call ourselves Executioners."
"You mean go home?!" Jill asked happily.
"Not quite." Gordon looked down, flipping through the book again. "After we beat 3 average Slayers, we can go into the actual war. There's something we need to protect.. I can't quite make this part out."
Gordon jumped, startled by the noise of people in a crowd cheering for something. There was a door behind them with the red light at it's sides. Gordon ignored it for a moment, tracing back in the book somewhere near the beginning.
"As the proof of the kill, we have to gather the enemy's mask or another part of their armor." Gordon walked over and put the theatre mask in one of the sacks he found in the room. Then, he pulled Jill over to the door. "I'm so sorry about your husband, Amelia, but you can resume your life now." Amelia was completely confused, watching Gordon and Jill run through the door.

They found themselves in a somewhat Midevil setting. The crowd was cheering for the execution of a supposed demon-infested man. The town they were in was divided by small hut-like houses shaped in a circle, with a small stage in the center, in which everyone was gathering around. There was a large wooden gate that led into the very small town. Jill looked across the circle to see a young man in black samurai armor. He watched the "show" just as Gordon and Jill did, making Jill curious.
"BURN THE MAN! LET HIM BURN!" A man from the crowd yelled. The young man from across the circle moved into the crowd. It was then Jill noticed he had a sword freely hanging from an extended belt to his back.
"HANG HIM! NOW!" Another man yelled.
"Hanging it is!" The Master Executioner said. He wasn't like the Slayer Executioners, but an original one, with the black mask and everything. Seeing as they could hang the man where they were, it seemed the best way to rid evil from the village. The Master put the noose around the man's neck and readied him. As the man was to be pushed into the hanging pit built into the stage, Jill noticed the young man in black draw his sword. The crowd went quiet in an instant. The innocent man in the noose fell and the man in the black ran, everything happened so quickly. The noose was cut. The innocent man looked up, still alive, in the pit.
The Master Executioner tried to fight the young man in black. He held up his giant axe as the young man somehow blocked and hit back with his small sword. The young man jumped amazingly high to the top of the wooden post the innocent man would have been hanging from otherwise. He seemed to know he was in trouble. He jumped in the air, right in the way of the sun, so no one could tell how, but he got away.
It was then the crowd noticed Gordon and Jill. "DEMONS!" The croud yelled.
"Wow. This must be the Stupidity Era." Gordon said. He grabbed Jill's hand and ran to the stage, carefully avoiding the croud. They pulled the man out of the hole and ran to the gate. "How do we open it?" Jill asked quickly. The crowd was following quickly after. One of the gate doors busted open. On the other end was the young man in black armor. He pulled them all through the gate. The crowd couldn't manage their way through.
Outside the gate was a vast field, covered with trees and lakes. The dark sky began to speak up, thundering and beginning to rain.
"Follow me. We must find shelter." The young man in black said. He ran off, and the others quickly tried to follow. The innocent man was dressed in dirty rags with messy, greasy hair. He looked very confused, but followed anyway.
The young man in black quickly constructed a small tent out of sticks, wood, mud, leaves, whatever he could find. It was small, but it would do.

The word of four escaped rule breakers charged of demon-infestation, helping the release of a demon-infestation host, and trying to fight The Master Executioner. In these times, there were no laws, but rules varied loosely among small towns and were all supported by one of the largest cities in the land. Few towns had names, being that they were basically encampments, and few cities had names because there was only one city per area of towns that you would need to know about to get information or to inform of a broken rule, such as in this case. Someone told The King of the city in the area about Gordon, Jill, The Innocent Man, and the young man in black.
The Soldier General stapped the area on a map of where the four were guessed to be residing. "They are obviously roughing it alone. They should know they're in trouble, so they'll keep their distance from anyone they see." He said. "Understood!" The soldiers said. They were all at an elongated table, receiving the orders for finding the 4 trouble makers. "Move out, men!" The General yelled, making sure it was well understood. All the soldiers ran out of the castle in which the meeting was held.

Back at the tent, with the 4 rule breakers, they discussed things such as how they would escape until everything was settled.
"Where is the Slayer, here?" Gordon whispered to Jill. Jill looked around the room. Everyone was drinking water out of cups the warrior in black had made. "So, what are your names?" Gordon asked, trying to break the tenseness in the air.
The young man in black looked up. "Seth," He said. "Funny meeting fellow Slayer Executioners here." Seth said. Jill looked up at him.
"How did you know we're Executioners?" Gordon asked.
"Look at your clothing. NO one from this era dresses like that." Seth said, pointing to their clothes. Gordon and Jill looked down, just now realizing they were in their school uniforms. They went to a private school, and were bounded from the privelage of dressing how they liked.
"You look like you came from this era.. in Japan you'd fit right in..." Gordon said.
"I thought I was going to Japan this time around. The instructions in my Guide weren't clear. I'd show you it now, but of course you only get the Guides to help you defeat your enemy at your last moment in the area."
"Of course, I know." Gordon bragged. The innocent man didn't seem to pay much attention. "What's your name?" Gordon asked. He looked up a bit.
"Vlad. Vladimir." He said. He went back to his drink. Suddenly, they all heard a voice from outside.
"OVER HERE! I found them, I found them!"
