As they walked down the hall to the noise of the voices, they increased in volume. The sound seemed to be coming from the Study, where the twins' father went to read and, obviously, study. They slowly approached the door to the Study, greeted by a bright red glow around the slits of the doorframe. The voices morphed obscenely into a scream as Gordon reached for and opened the door. Jill and Gordon gazed awfully at a large, classic dance hall. The screaming started up again.
A couple ran out of a door in the far end of the room. They ran quickly onto the stage on the other end on the room. Jill and Gordon, peaking from the doorway, remained unnoticed. Following the couple was a tall, thin man wearing the clothing of a Jester and a Theatre Mask with a mischievious grin. He was tightly gripping what seemed to be a thin, sharp piano wire. He had a frightening somewhat high voice. "Oh, just married, what a beautiful couple!" He devilishly yelled. He was quite speedy. He chased the couple up the stage and got hold on the groom. He held him by the neck and quickly pulled the "piano wire" almost all the way through the man's neck. He fell to the floor of the stage, flooding it with blood. Jill nearly screamed, but Gordon caught her by putting his hand over her mouth.
"We've got to save that woman!" Gordon whispered. The Jester was cornering her. She was nearly escaping, but continuosly got cornered again.
Gordon ran over and picked up a wooden chair on his way. The Jester, just noticing Gordon by the time he was behind him, had been smashed in the head by a now broken wooden chair. This knocked the Jester unconscious. Jill ran over to check on Gordon and the woman, who was crying.
"Are you two OK?!" Jill yelled?
"I'm fine..." Mumbled Gordon, breathing heavily. The woman continued crying, sitting in shock and staring at her dead husband.
"What are we gonna do?" Screamed Jill, hopping up and down.
"Calm down," said Gordon, waiting for the woman to calm down. Apparently, the Jester had not been completely knocked out because he seemed to be coming to. "Let's just go!" Gordon yelled, grabbing the woman's hand and running for the door they came in from on the right side of the stage. It was gone. They turned around and headed for the main entrance.
It opened into the Lobby, which was completely abandoned of people. "What's this all about??" Gordon impatiently asked the woman. She seemed to have calmed down a bit.
"My husband and I just got married across the street, at the Church... then, after the wedding, as we ran down the street happily- which of course.. was hours later- that man in the jester outfit came after us!" The woman said.
"I suppose you've learned not to run in the street at night..." Gordon rolled his eyes.
They left the building through the front door before the Jester was fully conscious again, unsure of where they're going.
"Where can we go?" Asked Jill.
"I know an abandoned residence down the road. Follow me." The woman said. As they ran down the street, they heard the Dance Hall's door slam open. They also heard the frightening voice of The Jester yell behind them. "Ameliaaa! Oh AMELIA! Where ever are you, my dear?" He yelled.
The street was dark, with many of the street lamps out. They were SURE they were not home in London. This place looked older.. the early 1900s, or earlier. The buildings looked like a few on their street back home.
"THERE!" The woman yelled, trying to whisper. She helped them under a somewhat boarded up door to one of the houses. It seemed quite run down. As they got in, they realized it was as torn apart inside as outside. The woman ran over and opened a hidden door in the wall. It blended in quite well. They all went in to find it was a small closet. They could only hear outside of the small hidden room. They heard the wood break. "Amelia.... Ameliiiiia!" The Jester called.
Jill's legs were shaking. The Jester seemed to come closer. "HELLO!" He yelled, as he opened the secret door. How could he have possibly known? The extra weight on that particular area of the floor caused it to collapse. The Jester, fortunately was still balanced on the first floor, while the others were in the basement.
"Oh my gosh... now what?!" Jill shook. "He's just going to come down and kill us, I want to go home! Take me home, Gordon!" Gordon, however, was paying no attention. He was examining the various weapons in the room.
"My, how fortunate." Gordon laughed. Then, he noticed the studded cover book from earlier on the floor. "Oh my.." He opened it. It told a story of a murderer that dressed as a jester with a theatre mask, just like in real life, and killed with an unidentified, extremely hard and sharp wire. One of his most famous murders was that of a groom, the day of his marriage. Before Gordan could find out what happeend to the Wife, Amelia, The Jester bursted open from the door up the stairs.
"Time's up!!" He laughed. He came at Amelia with the wire, but Gordon jumped in the way. "NO!" Jill screamed.
