The actual band of North Coast Envy began just a few months ago in around June, but before then there was so much more history dating back to 2001. In September 2001 the drummer of NCE Mike Piccolomini, singer Steve McCreight, and former guitarist Andy King discussed the forming of a band. At this time none of them had ever played an instrument other then the saxophone, trumpet, or baratone that they played in band (yes gay I know). After discussing which instruments to play about 2 weeks later Mike got his first drumset. A week after that Steve got his lead guitar, and shortly after Andy got his Bass. Mas Fusion was born. The new band began to have little practices here and there. Nothing to serious...until one day they decided to play there first gig at the Aurora Relay For Life. After much looking they found singer Adam Swift. The gig at Relay for Life was a disaster, and it turns out that they didnt know just how much practice had to go into a band. After the gig Adam Swift was kicked out, and the band, hoping to be forgotten as the band that blew it at Relay for Life changed their name to Random Authority. Under the new name they never did play any gigs, because after a few months the band brokeup completely, and ventured to find new bands. Steve began looking for a new band. Andy began playing Lead Guitar. Soon Steve and Andy found eachother yet again, and began a search for a bassist and a drummer, now better then they had been in the past. Finally they found Kevin Leary, and Chris French. Together these four guys formed North Coast Envy. They occasionally practiced and got better and better. One day Steve, Andy, and Kevin were just hangin out and ended up jammin with former Mas Fusion and Random Authority drummer Mike. The chemistry was great and the members decided to let Mike return and be the new drummer of NCE. From here they practiced hard and had 2 gigs which went pretty well. But after these gigs they were asked to play at Rock Emporium. They pracitced hard, but something just was awkward. Finally Mike Shea was asked to jam with the band. This meant Steve hangin up the guitar and sticking to vocals only. Mike Shea brought amazing guitar skills, and it just fit. He was then asked to join and become the new Lead Guitarist of NCE. Andy was moved to rythem, but after a few weeks Andy parted ways with them. After all this history the band is finally getting down to buisness, and it doesnt look like any changes will be made in the near future.
