OCTOBER 2003

UnderOATH ''The Changing of Times''
ah, UnderOATH... their only about the best band in the WORLD! Their sound, hardcore/metalcore/indie/emo/techno. There's almosy no way to explain UnderOATH. On ''The Changing of Times'' UnderOATH continue to shock hardcore music fans all over! The lead vocals are unlike anything you have ever heard, with awesome back up singing as well. On songs such as ''When The Sun Sleeps'' the band will at tikes trick you by making you think you are listening to a emo song... but then the next second of the song will make some of the heaviest bands out there sound like pop acts. Other good songs include (the title track) ''The Changing of Times'' ''A Message for Adrienne'' and ''Never Meant To Break Your Heart'' though every song on this album is COMPLETELY amazing! You pick up your copy of ''The Changing of Times'' HERE.
SEPTEMBER 2003
Thursday ''Five Stories Falling'' EP
Thursday's ''Five Stories Falling'' EP is one of the best CDs you can ever buy... and many Thursday fans most likely don't even know about this CD. This 5 song ep was released in 2002, and 4 out of the 5 songs are live trakcs from the Warped Tour... now sure at first (given Thurday's 2 CDs before thi release) it mite seem lame for them to have a CD with 4 live songs (all from their full length ''Full Collapse''). But this CD is not about putting out a CD or ''letting their fans know how their live show is'', the live tracks almost seem like a bonus tracks (except they are before the new song), it is very hard to explain what this CD is about. The CD features 5 stories by the 5 members of the band (plus what seems to be a poem by the keyboard player), the stories are all about new years party's and what the band has learned over the years, ''Jet Black New Year'' (the new song) is a very very awesome song... the lyrics are all made up from parts of the band members stories and is really very cool (plus you get to read the stories) and the songs and CD are awesome and everything. Noramlly i would only put up samples to 3 songs but since there are only 5 songs i will put up samples to all 5 songs (in the order they are on in the CD), Autobiography Of A Nation (live) Understanding in an Car Crash (live) Standing On The Edge of Summer (live) Paris in Flames (live) Jet Black New Year and you can buy ''Five Stories Falling'' HERE
AUGUST 2003
Extol ''Synergy''
i was looking over the CDs we have reviewed on this web site and i realized that we are a mosh team and we haven't really reviewed too maney real moshing hard core CDs! (though you can mosh at the concert of any band we have reviewed so far... trust me, i know, i went to Cornerstone!). So here you have it... Extol is pretty much the best band in the world! Though they are not my total faveoret band these guys can play with more skill (and have more skill) then just about any band there is. And on their 3rd full length album ''Synergy'' they do not fail to make people's jaws drop! (even if their live show ia a little more awing). Extol's drummer (David Husvik) is one of the best ever (the Stryper tatoo prolly helps him a little bit) and along with the rest of the band (and singer Peter Espevoll's good mix of screaming and high pitch gothic singing) you just can't go wrong. Stand out tracks include all 11 on ''Synergy'' but check out some sample's of Paradigms
Blood Red Cover
and Pyschopath
and now that you are prolly in love with Extol you can buy ''Synergy'' and their other releases HERE!
Switchfoot ''The Beautiful Letdown''
first... ''The Beautiful Letdown'' is one of the greatest title's for a CD ever. Then you have a great song like Meant To Live
(which you will love over and over unless you watch TVU... then you'll get a little sick of the song/video). Well Switchfoot is back with their 4th album and 1 new member, Jerome Fontamillas who plays keyboards and guitar (and is also of Fold Zandura & Mortal). ''The Beautiful Letdown'' is also a little more rocky than Switchfoot's other albums... and the band has grown their hair (very cool! except for front man John Foreman's soon-to-be mullet). Other good songs include Dare You To Move
and This Is Your Life
another good song is ''On Fire'' (it's a very clow song). you can get your very own copy of Switchfoot's ''The Beautiful Letdown'' by clicking HERE!
JULY 2003
mewithoutYou ''A --> B: Life''
well here it is... the band who puts a new face on emo, indie rock, or even hardcore! mewithoutYou is a very emotional band but they are not really a ''emo'' band.with heavy and punkish sounding guitars, (former Beatle hair cuts) and now 70ish hair cuts and vocals that are pretty much just yelling (not scream, not growling, not even a musical kind is scream, but yelling... just as if you were mad at your dog... sorta). Now mewithoutYou brings to you (on their Tooth & Nail debut) 12 of the greatest songs ever created! you can enjoy some real rock 'n' roll with

''Bullet To Binary''
while on songs like

''The Ghost''
and ''Nice and Blue'' you can hear some normal singing along with the yelling... one of the coolest songs (with the best title ever) on this CD is ''Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt''
where the bands shows a some what softer side. Over all... buy ''a --> b: Life'' it's a good album from one of the greatest bands ever! click here
to buy ''a --> b: Life''!!!

JUNE 2003
Starflyer 59 ''Old''
first off I have got to say that i am not that big a fan of SF59 (or i haven't been a big fan), i can stand most of their music but do not like more than a few songs... but i do how ever LOVE!!!! their song ''No New Kinda Story'' (i couldn't live with out that song). But over all the reason i have followed SF59 is becuz i am a super big fan of anything Ronnie Martin (the 1 man behind the Joy Electric music machine) and his brother Jason Martin is the main man (and founder) of Starflyer 59, plus SF59's bass player is Jeff Cloud (the manager and former long time member of Joy Electric). Now as far as the SF59's new album ''Old'' go's... i love it! their new darker style kicks butt!! The whole album is like a mix of dark gothic rock and slow emo. the 1st song

''Underneath''

is a very cool song, other good songs include

''Mayjor Awards''

and

''The Lights On''

i think you should deffently check this album out. you can buy it

here

MAY 2003
Norma Jean ''BLESS the MARTYR and KISS the CHILD''
Norma Jean was formly known as Luti-Kriss and released 2 CDs under that name ''5ep'' and ''Throwing Myself''. Now they have released their 2nd full length and 1st as Norma Jean. The CD is full of crazy crazyness and Norma Jean has gotten even harder on this CD, the video for ''Face : Face'' wasn't the greatest but it gives you an idea of how crazy the band is. stand out songs include

The Entire World Is Counting on Me, and They Don't Even Know It

Face : Face

and

Pretty Soon, I Don't Know What, but Something Is Going to Happen

and you can buy the album

here

Superchic[k] ''Last One Picked''
ok i'll be the 1st to say that when Superchic[k] came out in 2000 i thought that they well... sucked! but then i got into them more and got their 1st CD ''Karaoke Superstars'' which is really cool unless your youth leader is playing it through the crappy speakers in the van and u wana hear ZAO. But on their 2nd album ''Last One Picked'' Superchic[k] has gotten like 90% better, with songs like ''Hero'' which talks about setting a good exsample to people who look up to you and ''Real'' which talks about being yourself and not careing if people don't like you and then there's just fun goofy songs like ''Song 4 Tricia (Princes and Frogs)''. Also the song ''Na Na'' features the crowd from Kingdom Bound 2002 singing along at the end and Aaron Smith of the CYM Mosh Team was in that crowd. stand oiut tracks are really almost every song but some of the cooler songs are

''Real''

''Hero''

and

''High School''

and you can buy the CD

here

and please do buy it becuz it's really good!

APRIL 2003
Mae ''Destination: Beautiful''
Mae first debuted last year with a short 4 song ep, then they signed with Tooth & Nail Records and recorded some new stuff, now they have just released their 1st full length CD which has 11 songs. Mae's style is some what emo with a lot of indie rock but their not the normal indie band being sad that they can't get a girl friend. High light songs include

Embers And Envelopes

This Time Is The Last Time

Sun

and most of they album, you can buy it

here!

ZAO ''All Else Failed''
This is the latest CD from ZAO and will be their final CD with all new music, though the songs them selves are old and are from the original ''All Else Failed'' release in 1996, when ZAO recorded ''Parade Of Chaos'' in 2002 they decided to re-record 8 songs from ''All Else Failed'' and release them on a new ''All Else Failed'' CD released on Solid State Records with current singer Dan and current guitar player Scott. and even though this album only has 8 songs it's like 40min long and the final track ''All Else Failed'' has a killer outro, other stand out songs are the opener

Resistance

plus

In Loving Kindness

Foresight

and the rest of the album, you can buy this album

here!

Joy Electric ''The Tick Tock Treasury''
Joy Electric's Ronnie Martin has been in music projects such as Dance House Children and Rainbow Rider, but when he started Joy Electric in 1994 he wanted to stay away from the club dance music, which he did do very well if you really listen to his music. you could call Joy Electric's music synthpop but it's more than that, unlike most synth music every song sounds different ther'ye not all just a drum beat and some cool funky noise's with sad vocals, Joy Electric's drum beats are awesome with lots and lots of different sounds and the vocals sound strangely happy even if the song is sad (or he will have sad vocals that don't sound like crap). Stand out songs are ''(I AM) Made From The Wires...'', ''(Play Each Note) By Metronome'' J.E. Picturephone (Reflect You, I Connect You)'' and ''Saint Glockenspiel Science Faire'' plus all the other songs, go to

mp3.com/joye

to down load full songs and go

to buy the album! also check out the Joy Electric albums ''The White Song Book'', ''The Art And Craft Of Popular Music'', ''Robot Rock'', ''CHRISTIANsongs'', and ''Unelectric''.

Dead Poetic ''Four Wall Blackamil''
Dead Poetic debuted in 2002 with their Solid State Records full length debut CD ''Four Wall Blackmail'' which combinds hardcore screaming and crunching guitars with smooth emo vocals. a few of the songs are nice and slow and others such as ''Ollie Otson'' and ''The Corporate Enthusiast'' are fast and crazy, Dead Poetic also joined ZAO for their final tour along with underOATH. stand out songs include Burgundy
A Green Desire
and Four Wall Blackmail
plus every other song on the album, you can buy it here!
