Feeding Goldfish

*Feeding Goldfish*

Feeding goldfish is not very hard.
For small goldfish like the little comet goldfish for 10¢ at the pet store, you should use a little flakes.
For larger goldfish and older goldfish, you should use pellet food.

I use floating food, because I can net out the left over food my fish did not eat.
Some people think sinking food is better because floating food can give fish air bladder problems.
I have never experienced this using floating fish food.

!Never use tropical fish food for goldfish!

Live foods are better for your goldfish because it gives your goldfish a varied diet. I sometimaes give my red capped oranda some live food.

Goldfish like vegetables. Sometimes as a treat you can boil a little carrots and peas and feed them to your goldfish.

If you decide to keep water plants in your tank, goldfish love to eat them, so plant alot. I sometimes get some oxegenating plants and my fish love to play and eat them.

You can get frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp at your petstore and you probaly can get get other frozen food there.

You can raise brine shrimp from eggs you can get at the petstore. I have done it before and it is very easy.

You need non-iodized seasalt and a mason jar. Put some of the salt in the jar, not alot! Then add non-chlorinated water in the jar. Keep it at room temp. for a couple days.
When you feed the brine shrimp to the fish, net the shrimp out and wash then for a few seconds under the faucat and put them in the tank. If you want to keep the shrimp longer because you did not feed hem to the fish, feed the shrimp yeast.
