Running, Running and Running. THe basis of most sports in the world today. I have been running since std 7. The year I turned 14. I am now 18. In High school, in Cape Town, I was a way from home a termly border in a girls hostel. One of the easiest ways to make new friends was to go and find them. I took up running as a sport along with many other sports, (waterpolo; syncronised swimming; cross country; hockey; road running; diving; athletics and social swimming). I achieved first ream in std 7; std 8; std 9 and matric, for both road running and cross country. I managed to become the fastest under 16 cross country runner in the southern zones of Cape Town, coming either 1st or 2nd in all of my league races, which were held every week. I achieved the first half colours ever to be given out at our school for Road running,2 years running and also achieved half colours for cross country. Won the trophy for most outstanding cross country runner and athlete of the year. Became the captains for both the Road running and cross country teams at Wynberg Girls High School. Not to mention all the province trials I went to, but just missed making province, due to apendicitus, during my final matric exams. I no longer take part in shorter distances but am up to the 21.1. The only reason I managed to achieve all this was for the simple reason that one of my teachers, friends and coaches, saw potential in me, even though I didn't enjoy running to start with.
