There are many different types of Piranha’s, some of which are vicious and some that are not. Most of the piranhas are are dangerous. But there are also some piranhas that are fine to be around without having any cuts. But if you make a sudden movement they probably will attack. For example if you were in the Amazon and you put your feet inside the water the piranha will mistake your feet as its prey and attack. One of the most notorious Piranhas is the Red Bellied Piranha. The temperature of the water they can live in is to 75-81 degrees F. The Red Bellied Piranha likes to eat live fish and any other animal that can be taken down in the matter of the number of piranha. They also have no clear sexual differences. Breeding females may appear more robust in shape. For breeding, eggs are laid in the Amazon among plants or in a pit in the substrate and defended by the parents. It takes 2 to 3 days to allow the piranha egg to hatch. The piranhas live in the Amazons, and can grow up to 2 feet. Their jaws are filled with razor sharp teeth that let them rip apart their prey. Piranhas are attracted to any sudden movements or blood. Piranhas will not attack only if: 1. the prey is not bleeding, 2. the prey is too big to take down, 3. or they are not hungry, because they have just eaten. The younger piranha will usually eat the older piranha only if it was starved. Another type of piranha is the Black Piranha; it is the most feared of all piranhas. This Piranha will kill at will. The Black Piranha has very large triangular teeth and a very powerful body. The baby Black Piranha has a lighter color of black and will darken with age. The Black Piranha will attack any thing that moves including large boats. The Black Piranha is in South America. The largest size of the Piranha is 16 inches. The temperature the black piranha lives in is 72-82F. The white piranha is known as one of the biggest piranhas. They can grow up to 15 inches. They are very aggressive, and should be treated with respect. The white piranha is covered in black spots and slowly fades with age. The whit piranha and the black piranha are confused a lot because the black and the white piranha have white spots. The black piranhas spots as I said before it fades away. These fish is very shy and is frightening with ease. When one white piranha becomes weak or sick the other piranha members of the group will attack the weak or sick fish. The piranhas are very unique, because of the way that they act. They will not go and eat people. If they happen to see if you have an open cut, you may be attacked. For example, my friend’s mom lives in the Amazon and her and her friends went to the river. There are piranhas there, and they don’t bother them because they never had any cuts. When the piranhas attack, it almost looks like a sprinkler going into the lake. It looks like that because when the piranhas attack they jump up and down very fast. The red bellied piranhas can eat a full grown mammal les then 2 minutes. I think that this project helped me learn all about piranhas because Todd and I worked on this for several weeks and we got a lot of research. I also think that this may help me out later on in life because I like to fish a lot but if I ever go out in the amazons to go fishing I know what the piranhas look like so I can be aware on them.
