Quiz: Would you make a good captain?
1.)You see two guard members fighting before practice. What do you do?
a.)Leave them alone. it's none of my business anyway.
b.)Approach them and inform them that practice is neither the time nor place to be fighting, and later help them work out their differences.
c.)Yell at the them to quit fighting so we can start practice. Don't they know the sooner we start the sooner we can go home?
2.)If you had to make up a routine for the show that the whole guard had to learn, what would be in it?
a.)I would make it as difficult as possible. The harder routines look better, so the new ones will just have to suck it up and practice more if they want to survive the season.
b.)Very easy moves. The begginers need it to be simple, and this way we won't have to practice as much.
c.)I would do a mix of basics and more difficult moves that I made up. Guardos of all experience levels need something to challenge them and learning something new does just that.
3.)A girl is complaining that the routines are too hard. How would you help her?
a.)First I'd need to explain nicely that everyone else has managed to get the routine, so she can too. Then I tell her she just needs to work harder and some people just reqire more work than others.
b.)Come to her and suggest that you will give her extra help after practice. I'd offer some words of encouragement also. Everyone has trouble their first year.
c.)Yell at her in front of the team that whining will get her nowhere and you don't appreciate her challenging your authority.
4.)During every practice, two girls constantly talk and giggle. They've ignored your requests to be quiet. What's the next step?
a.)Next time it happens tell them in a cool tone you don't appreciate them constantantly interrupting practice and every time they talk from here on out they will get push-ups.
b.)Loudly inform them that the next time they talk they're staying after practice and running laps around the whole campus.
c.)Make an announcement to the whole guard after practice that you wish people wouldn't talk anymore while rehearsal is going on and hope the get the hint. If they still don't stop then there's nothing i can do about it.
5.)There is one person who constantly tries to help people with the routine, drill, etc. whether or not they ask for or need it. What do you tell them?
a.)"You aren't the captian and don't have the right or authority to boss people around. That's my job. If you want to be captian so bad then try out next year."
b.)"I understand you're just trying to help, but it isn't right for you to be telling people what to do. I appreciate that fact that you want what's best for the team, but the other girls are getting their feelings hurt. Next time you see someone doing something incorrectly, please tell me and i'll take care of it."
c.)I don't tell them anything. They're correcting people for me which means i don't have to worry about the drama.
