Leaving the rat race behind
without looking back, Capital is here to give you a dose of reality. For a band
that has only just formed, they sound like they’ve been playing together for
years. Hailing from NYC and NJ, Capital
is here to make you think twice about what real rock music is supposed to sound
like. One listen is just a tease. Their unrelenting songs hit with blunt
urgency in 2 minutes or less but definitely get their point across.
With a love for music, Capital has been influenced by an array
of styles but prominently keeping their roots in rock. Imagine Refused, with
the soul of the Beatles, and the rhythm section of Led Zeppelin. All three
members are accomplished musicians in their own right. They have gigged and
recorded in various projects ranging from hardcore punk bands to Charles
Wourenin’s Percussion Symphony and have played venues from CBGB’s to Lincoln
Center. But, past credits are irrelevant; Capital is NOW.
You can call them progressive punk and melodic punk rock, but
above all genre labels the heading is always pure rock. These three young men are
at the verge of their abilities with one common goal, to make music beyond the
current forms of production. Just when the music hints at falling apart, they
pull it all back together, providing the tension that’s missing in a crop of
haircuts and picture perfect bands.
Capital
recorded and produced their first LP, Demography, in a mere two weeks. Instead
of being holed up in a studio perfecting each tweak, they want to go out there
and bring their live show to everyone.
Why name the band Capital? Why not...Why not steal the name? It
steals from us everyday.
