Star Seed (Rough Draft)
Thousands of years ago there was the planet of Kroths, years away from our earth. Two opposing families, the Gothels and the Corts, ruled the planet. The two families were mortal enemies who each wanted total control of the planet. They each had a child. Martel Gothel had a son and Arthos Cort had a daughter. The two were the same age and were deeply in love.
They met one warm day while horse back riding. Arthos’ daughter had fallen off her horse and broken her leg. Martel’s son, who was out illegally hunting on the Cort’s property, came upon her lying there. He picked her up and set her on his horse. He walked beside the horse leading it to her town of Salem. Ever since that day when he found her they were deeply in love. For two years they hid their relationship from their parents, meeting in secret places.
However, Arthos grew suspicious of his daughter’s many rides late at night. He sat spies up to follow her. In this way he learned of their meetings. When he found out, Arthos was furious. Martel was also suspicious of his son and he himself followed and found out.
The two were placed under a house arrest. Neither was allowed to leave their respective castles. It was a year before they were released. Guardians were placed to watch over their every action. The guardians however felt sorry for the star-crossed lovers and would help them pass notes and arrange meetings.
One day it was learned that Arthos intended to give his daughter in marriage to the son of the captain of his armies. She was horrified to learn this and planned to run away with her love and go into hiding.
Through her caretakers, she arranged a date with her love to escape. However, the night of their meeting, the captain found out of her plans. Martel’s son arrived just as the captain was going to tell Arthos. In his fear, he slew the captain. Before the couple could escape, the captain was found and they were stopped.
Martel’s son was sentenced to exile from planet Kroths. The day his ship was to leave, Arthos daughter stowed away on his ship. It blasted off into space, carrying the two lovers far away from their home. Martel’s son was thrilled to learn his love had come with him. Together they traveled in search of a habitable world.
After a few years, they stumbled upon a planet with only one inhabitant. He gave them leave to stay on the best part of the planet provided they followed his rules. To this they gladly agreed. They were happy to be together.
After a time of living in the lush lands provided for them by the caretaker, they came across a tree bearing beautiful fruit of gold. When they asked the caretaker about the tree he forbade them to eat of it. They obeyed for a while but eventually they gave in to the lovely look of the fruit.
Shortly thereafter, the caretaker was strolling through the land when he noticed what they had done. He banished them from this part of the land saying they could never return. He gave them clothes and sent them away.
As they were leaving the girl turned to the man. Saddened by the events she looked at him and said crying, “What are we going to do Adam?”
Shaking his head he looked at her. He frowned and simply said, “I don’t know eve. I don’t know.”
With this they walked away from Eden never to return.
More will eventually be done to the story. This is a very early version. I'm still toying with character and place description. There are other things I think I may add later as well to lengthen it some. But if I lengthen it too much it won't be a short-story will it?
