my FreeBSD version of the ADM-smb / ADMsmb tool
A little util to automaticly control the Dell Laptop Fan, Source .and. statically linked executable.
also a kernel patch in v0.3b to add 'shutdown -p' functionality.
tested with Latitude and BIOS A13 and FreeBSD 4.7. but should also be functional on the Inspiron.

the svctag.exe , asset.exe , ee-erase.exe, etc.. tools are also no longer just in Dells hands. ;-P
For all those people who would really like a copy of those tools
the best way of getting them from me is...
send me a postcard with a picture of your town/area on the front
write on the back your return address, and a few funny lines for the postman to read
i'll then send you a copy of all those tools and a few more.
