A little util to automaticly control the Dell Laptop Fan, Source .and. statically linked executable.
also a kernel patch in v0.3b to add 'shutdown -p' functionality.
tested with Latitude and BIOS A13 and FreeBSD 4.7. but should also be functional on the Inspiron.
for more info have a look at http://freshmeat.net/projects/fan/

the svctag.exe , asset.exe , ee-erase.exe, etc.. tools are also no longer just in Dells hands. ;-P
For all those people who would really like a copy of those tools
the best way of getting them from me is...
send me a postcard with a picture of your town/area on the front
write on the back your return address, and a few funny lines for the postman to read
i'll then send you a copy of all those tools and a few more.

Panasonic GD-75 Battery Reset / Programmed Breakdown?

This battery failed after 8 months! with very low usage
the 3 main contacts have 0V,and suppose to have 3.7V
the official repair centre told me its dead and where more then willing to sell me a new one and dispose of the old.
but i found the 2 extra contacts on the side, hidden behind a little black sticker
they gave the right Voltage, and after connecting the 2 contacts for a second
and then putting it back in to the phone, the phone came back to life after a minute!

i called Panasonic, and they refuse to comment on the subject.
is this one more programmed failure, so that we have to buy more crap from the large .INC's !!!?

that people are so unwilling to accept responsibility for their own actions,
or that they are so eager to regulate everyone else's
