Ram Alma Mater
by Cosh Ng
There is a school that is dear to my heart, one that stands out from the rest,
Although we are many, we’re united here at Liberty, we strive for the best.
Silver, burgundy and green,
Growing stronger to build our dreams.
We know that striving forward day by day,
Our Ram pride will stay.
I know a place where I can learn and grow, a place where I can be me,
Where I gain strength and knowledge here at Liberty, the future we see.
Silver, burgundy and green,
Growing stronger to build our dreams.
We know that striving forward day by day,
Our Ram pride will stay.
Ram pride will stay!
Liberty STAFF BELIEFS
1. A Quality Education For All
The Liberty Staff believes that a quality education develops an individual’s mind, body and spirit. Every individual has a right to a quality education, and this right cannot be compromised.
2. Teamwork and Trust
The Liberty Staff believes that schools should seek to develop an educational team that consists of students, parents, staff members and the community. This educational team should work collaboratively to build an excellent school that prides itself on quality services. Trust should bond this team. This team should respect, encourage and support one another, but also hold each other accountable for their actions.
3. People verses Programs
It is good people who make good programs. The Liberty Staff believes that its members should be role models for students, parents and the community and will encourage students to do the same. The staff is also committed to people first before programs.
4. Education is A Choice
The Liberty Staff believes that education is a choice, not a given. An individual should be held accountable for their actions. The school’s duty is to provide the services needed for a quality education, but it is the student who must choose to use those services to be successful in the learning process.
5. Importance of Discipline
Actions that hinder the staff’s quest to provide a quality education for all individuals should be discouraged. Actions must reflect the importance of a child’s education. The Liberty Staff believes that a school should seek to establish a disciplined learning environment in the classroom, on the playground and in other facilities at the school. The school must be a safe place where students thrive in a nonthreatening atmosphere. In addition the staff believes that educators should discipline with respect, consistency and fairness.
6. Talent Can Be Developed
The Liberty Staff believes that all individuals are capable of learning and reaching their fullest potential with good teaching and a positive learning environment. The staff believes that every individual can contribute to a successful experience in the classroom or on school teams. The staff will seek to make sure that each individual has a chance and is encouraged to contribute to successful, educational experiences.
7. High Expectations
The Liberty Staff believes that all individuals can achieve at high levels. Schools should offer high expectations and powerful developmental experiences for all.
8. Success is Important
The Liberty Staff believes that success is the result of a strong work ethic, self-discipline, perseverance, and a willingness to take risks. Success should be the norm and that failure should only occur when one quits trying. The staff believes that competence breeds confidence. Skills should be emphasized so that individuals can be successful life-long learners and contribute to a democratic society. Part of being successful is learning to compete--to compete with oneself and with others. Individuals should learn to win with respect towards their opponents and lose with dignity.
9. Clear Goals
The Liberty Staff believes that students and parents should always know what they are to learn, how they are to learn it, why they should learn it, and how well they are doing. The staff believes that clear communication with the home and with the school community is vital for a successful educational program. The staff will seek to develop within each individual the ability to set personal goals for self-improvement.
10. Teaching and Learning
The Liberty Staff believes that good instruction is meaningful to the learner, tied to the real world, involves multiple modalities, actively involves the learner, and is interactive. Good instruction prevents many learning problems and student failure. The staff believes that not all individuals learn the same way, at the same rate, and they will individualize instruction as much as possible. The staff believes that target teaching is important. The focus of teaching and learning is student achievement (the product), over the actual process.
11. Validation, Affirmation and Optimism
The Liberty Staff believes that all individuals are entitled to be treated with respect and dignity. People grow best through sincere praise and validation, not negative criticism and fault-finding. The staff believes that optimism regarding people, education, and the future serves everyone best. The staff will be dedicated to creating an environment that promotes self-esteem, success and optimism.
12. Co-Curricular Programs
The Liberty Staff believes
that co-curricular programs help students develop a connectedness to school,
build character and values, and develop a sense of self-worth.
