Look at My Mini ramp that has brought my friends and I hours of enjoyment, and several injuries(including me crushing my own nuts between my legs).
You can thank my friend Curtis for taking this awesome picture. He is such a great photographer he managed to get half of the mini ramp in the picture. There is my freshly painted East Side Board Supply symbol on the bottom(Which is now extremely Faded)
Mini Ramp Tricks
I was looking around the Internet for some stuff about mini ramps and I couldn't find anything, so I decided to make my own site thing for it. Im going to put up some tricks and stuff(i dont really know what the names are I just do them)
Remember, I put these In different sections kind of for a reason. Dont try to do hard tricks before you can do the basics. Get the basics down and the rest will follow. Another thing is confidence. I think the biggest main reason that some people get really good and can jump down 40 stairs is because they are really confident in themselves.
Mini Ramp Tricks to do. Remember, these are the tricks i can do, there are many, many, many more. I just don't want to try and tell you how to do stuff I don't know how to.
Drop In- This is and easy one. Set your tail on the coping, and then put your front foot over the bolts. Its all about shifting your weight. Lean forward. When you feel you are getting to the bottom, level out your body weight so it is straight.
Rock and Roll to Fakie-This is an easy one too. After You drop in, and are rolling up the other side, bring your front trucks up over the coping. Then lift them back(dont bring them back too far or you will fall), and roll back down(remember its all about shifting your weight around). Those ones are kind of sucky, but they are Rock and Rolls to Fakie. When you get good at those, go faster, bring your trucks way over, then bang your wheels on the deck of the mini ramp(a much more stylish one than the one I told you earlier). It is alot freakier than the other one, because it is alot easier to fetch up when you are going back down fakie.
Fakie Rock-This is the same as a Rock and Roll to fakie, except you are going up to the coping fakie. Bring your back trucks over the coping then bring them back down. After you get good, try to bang your back wheels on the deck(go back as far as you can), then go back down in.
Well I haven't Updated here for a long time. But I am going to list every single trick I can think of and do on the mini ramp, but not explanations of how to do them. Just to give you some ideas of what tricks to do.
Easy Tricks
Rock and Roll
Fakie Rock and Roll
Backside rock and roll( rock and roll BS 180 out)
Tail Stall( think of it as a drop in rewind)
Backside Pivot(just go up like a kickturn except go higher)
fakie bs 180 to backside rock and roll( when you are going backwards, just turn 180 the way that you can see where you are going, then do a 180 out. its an easy, flowing motion)
Fakie bs 180 to rock and roll to fakie( this is the same as before, except you dont do the last 180, therefore you come down fakie. A little harder because you have to stop your momentum).
Nose Manual 180 to rock and roll( It is just like a nollie disaster, except you dont actually pop a nollie, you just spin).
Thats pretty much it for the really easy ones.
The Little-bit-harder-than Easy Tricks
No Comply Rock and Roll- When you start to ride up the transition, take your front foot off, push a little bit with it, causing the board to go into rock and roll, and then put your front foot back on, and go back down. You can do a No Comply Body Varial Rock and Roll, you could do a No Comply to FS or BS rock and roll as well.
Backside Axel Stall(do a backside pivot kind of, put your front truck on the coping then go back in, this is harder to get into than a frontside axel stall, but way easier to go back in).
Frontside Axel Stall(Easy to get into, because you can see where your going. When you drop back in, its a bit harder, because you are on the blindside).
Then you do these frontside and backside 50-50's. FOr the axel stalls, you just go staight up then stall, for the 50-50's, kind of push yourself into them so you grind across the bar. You will know when you do a good 50-50.
Frontside axel stall to rock and roll(then you can do it backside rock and roll after that if you want).
FS axel stall to frontside disaster.
FS axel stall to tail/nose stall
BS axel stall to tail/nose stall( a little bit harder than FS
Bs axel stall to rock and roll(then you could do a backside rock and roll).
Bs axel stall to backside disaster.
Frontside and Backside feeble stalls( these are actually very easy once you do axel stalls).then you can do these to rock and roll or axel stalls or whatever.
Tail stall revert( when you do a tail stall, just push down on your tail in a powerslide motion. Finish through with the motion until you do the full 180).
Nose stall revert(just to the above except switch).
Frontide nose pick to frontside distaster(exactly like doing the nose manual 180 spin to rock and roll(or disaster or whatever you want to call it) except you start turning late, so you spin the 180 on the coping instead of just on the ramp).
Well I added a bunch of tricks, but my computer froze before I saved. So Ill just list some of the tricks with out explanation because I dont want to write it all over again.
Fakie FS pivot, Fakie Bs Pivot, fakie frontsite feeble, Fakie bs feeble, Fakie BS/FS axel stall. Then you can combe ALL of those with tail stalls, rock and rolls, disasters, and reverts and whatever you want.
The Getting-Harder Tricks
Blunt Stall to Rock and Roll(then revert if you want).
Fakie Frontside pivot to fakie.
Fakie Shuvit Rock and Roll
Pop Shuvit Rock and roll
Body Varial Rock and Roll
Fakie Body Varial Rock and Roll
Frontside Rock and Roll( They are not really that hard to do, but doing them good, like going up as far as you can, would be very hard).
Rock and roll Bs 360 out. Just go up like a normal BS rock and roll, except after you do the 180, put weight on your back foot and kind of do a 180 powerslide after the 180. Doing it is not the really hard part, but doing it and keeping a bit of your speed would be really hard.
Nollie Shove-it rock and roll
The Hardest Tricks(within my abilities)
Kickflip to Rock and roll( then you can revert out). The important thing is to let the board flip the whole way not just half( like i do most of the time)).
Blunt to Fakie. This is pretty hard because you have to get in blunt, ollie, get the board to stay to your feet, not hang up, land and not let the board shoot out from under you. The most important part is to remember to keep your weight over the ramp, not over the coping. The very very most important part is to not hang-up. One day I just said in my head, "Well today, I'm going to try a blunt to fakie, but im going to stay on my board, and not hang up". Then I did it that day. If you tell your self not to hang up, and you believe you wont then you won't.
Remember, you can do all of these trick in switch, fakie, anything, these are just some ideas of tricks to do.
More really soon im working on them now. Remember, try to have fun and not get really angry at tricks( everyone does once in a while), it is pointless.
Here are some pictures of mini ramps. You might be inspired to build a mini ramp, or build something new on to your own-Mini Ramp Pictures. Remember Go to www.freerampplans.cjb.net to get plans for building a mini ramp. Build one soon!
