.Sugar.Cult.

airin.tim.ben.marko

SugarCult is another one of my favorite bands. Their music is so awesome and is a huge inspiration in my life.
The guys of SugarCult Kick Ass. And if u haven't heard their music u definately need to check it out.

The Band:
SugarCult consists of:

Airin. Bass/Vocals

Airin was born on July 12,1977 in Pasadena, CA.
He later lived in Springfield, IL,
for 8 years where his parents formed an opera company.
Airin's mom is an opera singer and vocal coach and his dad is a multi-faceted
musician specializing in bluegrass. Airin made his
professional musical debut at age 9 in the opera
"Pagliachi" at the Redlands Bowl, where he sang and acted.
Airin entered Santa Barbara City College in '98
and according to Tim, "was the only one that would
let me cheat off his papers and not turn me in."
Airin enjoys dying his hair,
painting his nails and other guy stuff.
He also likes breaking things and calling it art.

Ben Davis. Drums/Vocals

Ben was born in Medford, OR.
At seven years of age, he attended a Van Halen concert
and thus began his descent into the world of rock.
Weekend activities for Ben included Kiss lip-sync concerts for his parents
and neighbors. Soon thereafter, Ben's dad brought home some drum sticks and a practice pad.
Throughout elementary school, many young
dreamers form rock bands that mostly focus on the band name and
album cover art, rather than the actual music.
Ben was different. He was hungry to learn chords and songs.
Instead of playing cops and robbers, he and his friends played rock stars.
At nine years of age, Ben moved to Hygiene, CO,
a small farm town outside of Boulder.
He got a drum set and soon after began forming bands:
Eight Ball (3rd grade), Flame (4th grade), Bolt (5th grade),
and Chaos, Busted and Stinky Pinky in high school.
At age 20, he stopped playing in bands and began
writing songs and recording them on a four track
recorder. Gradually, his interest and understanding of music production grew,
as well as his ability to play many different instruments.
Ben now plays drums, guitar, bass, piano, clarinet,
viola, oboe and harmonica.
He can write for orchestra, choir and jazz ensemble as well.
At 23, Ben moved to Santa Barbara where he played in
several bands, Blue Wail and The Ben Davis Jazz
Explosion, and went into business for himself as a music producer.
And then one fateful day, on a harmless cigarette break
at school, Ben met Tim Pagnotta and was persuaded to join the cult.
Besides beating the drums,
Ben produced and engineered two songs on the new Sugarcult record.

Marko 72. Lead Guitar

Marko was born in Philadelphia, PA.
At one month old, he moved to Rome, Italy.
At three years old he moved to Santa Barbara where he became
a fixture in the west coast music scene.

He received a degree in Environmental Studies/Sociology from
UCSB in '94. He also ran an independent
label called My Records from '96-'98,
promoted a series of shows in Santa Barbara and
Los Angeles and ran his own indie label called Cooler Records.
Marko was also a Sunday night DJ on KJEE in Santa Barbara. Marko met Tim at a Superdrag concert
in Santa Barbara where they admired each other's suits
. A bond was formed and Tim asked
Marko to join the band before he even
heard Marko play a note on guitar.

Tim Pagnotta. Guitar/Vocals/SongWriter

Tim was born on January 17, 1977.
He got his first drum set when he was 10 and as a result,
caused more then a few headaches for his parents.
After being inspired by the movie "La Bamba" in fifth grade,
Tim asked his dad if he could get a guitar.
Figuring the guitar makes less of a racket than the drums;
Tim's dad obliged and proceeded to teach him a bunch of Beach Boys tunes and '60s classics.
In his early years, Tim's family moved around a lot.
He lived in 13 different homes and he went to four different elementary schools,
two junior highs and three high schools. During school he had a hard time fitting in, since he was always the new
guy. As an escape, Tim deeply got into music.
In 1997, Tim moved from the Bay Area to
Santa Barbara and began attending junior college. It was there that Tim met drummer Ben Davis who recently
quit his job at Denny's in Boulder, CO and moved west to
California. They joined forces with bassist
Airin and began practicing in an abandoned storage warehouse where
Ben was living. Soon thereafter they recruited guitarist Marko 72...
and Sugarcult was born.
Tim is the songwriter for the band
. Sugarcult is the first and only band he has played in.
