Gigs and Events
The bar at the left shows all the forthcoming gigs and events lined up for POB bands in the immediate future. Below are reviews of previous gigs, the most recent ones first.

Scream Blue Murder, Sarz and Blow - Black Horse SAMA82 - 1st June 2003
Blow started at about 4pm and played a great set which was especially enjoyed by Little Dave. Unfortunately due to the lure of the sunshine and barbecue in the beer garden, the bar wasn't that full. Blow had to get to another gig and couldn't stay for long after they had played.
Sarz started at 8.30. The weather was still good outside and DJ Trotski was still playing so not many people witnessed their debut. The played 5 original songs including CMF classic, Scotch Fuelled Fucked Weekend and tagged So Fuckin' What on to the end of the set. Nerves about the new material were obvious but the set went down well. Unfortunately a member of the audience interuppted one song to tell everyone that his wife was getting her head shaved.
Scream Blue Murder as ever put on a great show, a little shakey start but a lively and invigorating set as per usual. New song Set it Off by Audioslave was also a little shakey but a great first attempt.
The event was held in aid of Falklands Veterans chairty SAMA82 and raised loads of cash with sponsored head shaves, auctions and raffles.

Torn - Rockers Live! - 15th May 2003
The gig was not packed! Due to some confusion about the night Torn were supposed to be playing many people were unable to make the gig and Torn played to a half empty venue.
Making matters worseTank @ Rockers had taken delivery of a new PA and while loud and crisp it took a while to break it in and get used to the new controls, feedback and clarity were an issue all night.
Due to these events Torn played a "relaxed" gig at Rockers deviating a great deal from the usual set list and just having fun with plenty of beer.

Torn - White Lion, Langport, Somerset - 18th April 2003
For some reason, Torn always go down very well in Langport. Fresh from their previous success at the Sports and Social club, the venue did prove a little daunting as the White Lion is a far edgier venue than the Sports and Social club. However, the mix of powerful rock songs and more mellow ballads went down very well with the assembled clientele.
For the up tempo numbers the crowd were very responsive and the PA Speakers were under constant threat of being knocked over, but they managed to stay upright and Torn were requested to play on long past the alloted finishing time.

Chambers - Reeko & CiderMetalFite - Review from Weekender Magazine
"Just 'cos we're from the country that don't make us cunts" - Nice one lads.
Well now, it's half six on a Wednesday eve and I'm about to slip in to me dressing gown and set the kettle to "simmer" ready for horlicks and Emmerdale. But hark, I am aroused by the distant whispers of a cellular phone... and it's Paul, he wants me to review some Metal bands playing at Chambers. Horlicks.
As support CiderMetalFite take to one side of the floor, the audience fill the other and wait on expectantly . Do they know something that I don't? Not far in to their set when "crabs","kebabs" and "Gin and Tonic" have already been mentioned, and I'm really not sure what to make of it all. A sort of The Wurzels meet Napalm Death" type act. y'know the sort. There was tune and some very tight endings.
The humour in the lyrics alone was not enough to carry the band which is why it's a good thing they turned in to pretty talented, confident musicians between bouts of verse. The crowd stayed and enjoyed the rest of the act. satisfied.
So it's headlining tie and Reeko take to the foreground. A four piece to CMF's three. There's nice presence of sharing going on here with all but the drummer contributing vocally. I'm watching. There's a fair bit of energy going in to this act, which is very much a good thing, mostly coming from what seems to be the second in command but later followed by the front man who's taking it all a bit seriously. Reeko churn out some impressive riffs, but run a little dry in any sort of tune department, wasting the possible benefits of having three voices and a lot of the crowd have called it a day partway through the set.
So we're approaching the end of the evening when Reeko No. 2 tops it all off by managing to offend even their drummer with a witty divorcee joke before leaping in to one of their last songs of the set. I watch it all draw to a close before climbing the stairs to the less than pearly gates, my work here done. All in all not a bad night for local patriotism, but I can't say it hasn't been hard work.

Wood Street Inn - CiderMetalFite Review from Big Gig Guide - July 2001
CiderMetalFite play a blend of punk and metal influenced by Motorhead, Rancid, NOFX and Black Sabbath. The general ethos of the band has been to "keep it real" writing about subjects that relate to them on a day to day basis living in Taunton and the Southwest. The lyrics are usually explicit, occasionally violent but always filled with good humour.
The band play mostly original songs, example titles are "Fite Shed" "Around the World in 80 Girls" and Ballad of A Scotch Fuelled Fucked Weekend" but the band enjoy throwing in unusual covers of "So What" by the Anti-nowhere League and "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis. The whole band have only been playing together since February but quickly built a strong set, playing their debut gig at the Wood Street Inn on May Day Bank Holiday Sunday. Despite being on at 5pm the Wood Street Inn was packed with local support and the band actually got a few crowd surfers.
Drums: Aaron Glass (aka Evil Elvis) - ageing guitarist for Scream Blue Murder, Cider Metal Fite is Aaron's opportunity to express himself on the drums. Aaron believes himself to be the most talented member of the band and has recently received treatment for his Elvis fixation. Aaron is a dedicated "muso" who can often be heard saying that he would love to be Kylie's bass player.
Guitars: Jimbob Sibley III (aka Keef Riff) Jim used to play bass with the now defunct Farmer One Cow in the mid 90's but has now transferred his talents to the furious rhythm guitar underpinning the sound of CMF. Jim's main influences are cider and seminal US punksters Rancid. As the oldest member of the band Jim is seen as a father figure to the other members of the band who are always tapping him up for the money and cider.
Bass / Vocals - Simon Frowde (aka Ozzy Shit) - Simon has been in a number of the bands over the years and is currently bassist for Scream Blue Murder as well as CMF. Although he has only just transferred from the Six String to the Four String Simon readily he is the "God of Thunder" Simon is renowned for being a dodgy metaller who used to have a bad mullet.
