STILL FIGHTING FOR A FUTURE.....

HISTORY

-1998-
The Virus began around Feb. 1998 and we played our first show on March 7th 1998. The original line-up was: Mike- vocals// Dave- guitar// Chris- guitar// Geoff- bass// Jarrod- drums. In July 1998 we recorded 2 songs to be on a split 7" with New York band The Manix. Shortly after the recording the label scheduled to release the 7" folded and as a result the 7" was never released. However, the split was released as a 4 song mini CD that sold out almost immediately. In total only 130 copies were made. In August 1998 the band experienced its first line-up change with bass player Geoff leaving the band. In the months following we practiced with two different bass players and finally decided on adding to Paul to the band. The new line-up was then Mike-vocals// Chris- guitar// Dave- guitar// Paul- bass// Jarrod- drums.

-1999-
In Feb we went into the studio to record 5 song for New Jersey punk label Charged records. Of these 5 songs 4 were released as a 7" and 1 was for the Punx Unite Vol. 2 compilation. In June, the band experienced it's second line-up change with lead guitarist Chris leaving the band. For the next 4 months we continued playing shows as a four piece. Then in late Sept. we experienced our third line-up change with the addition of new lead guitarist Mike from the Philadelphia band No Authority.

-2000-
In March we went into the studio and recorded 12 songs to be released on Charged records as CD and LP. At the end of the second day of recording, after all vocal tracks were laid down, Mike Virus (singer) quit the band. However Mike did play the remaining shows that the band had booked and his last show ever with the band was at The Killtime in Philadelphia. The band then decided on having Paul take over on lead vocals and then setting out to find a new bass player. We asked Tim from New Jersey band the Oi Scouts and he accepted. The new line-up then was: Paul- vocals// Mike Authority- guitar// Dave- guitar// Tim-bass// and Jarrod- drums. In March the CD compilation titled: PUNX UNTIE: INTERNATIONAL CHAOS was released featuring a track by The Virus titled: Still Fighting For A Future. In June we left for a six week tour of the USA along with the Casualties, Funeral Dress, Endless Struggle, and Antidote. We toured from Massachuetts down to Florida across to California then all the way up the west coast then back home. The tour was great for us because we met a lot of great people, played with a lot of good bands, and made a lot of new fans along the way. About a week into the tour the CD version of our new full length was released.
