we are sad to say, The Rescue Camp has broken up, and gone their own ways...

September 6, 2001 - HINGHAM - THE RESCUE CAMP of Hingham Massachusetts. Comprised of 5 members: Branden, Oakie, Sean, Lou and Meghan. They played punk music. Some highlights: all the garage shows, recording a live CD, writing 'so distant'.

Eulogy: written by Matt Dahan of SPX

"The Rescue Camp. Three words: the rescue camp. What does that mean? A camp where people are rescued? I bet we'll never know, for it now rests in peace. I remember when I first heard of them... it was during the summer of 2000, and it was after one of my band's practices. We were just writing new songs, and we constantly entertained the thought of playing shows. I called my best friend, Sean Rielly (guitarist of TRC) as I usually did and he told me that he was in a band now. It was called "The Rescue Camp" and they wanted to play shows with us. I agreed and after SPX and TRC reached about the same number of songs (6) we played our first show. I remember like it was yesterday. September 29, 2000. It was a breezy day. SPX played first, and we slugged through our 5 song set, and we made way for TRC. They played 5 or six songs, and we all loved it. Maybe some folks not at first, for they did not realize that it was the start of something that would benifit all of us. We were all so happy. It was freshman year, we had all survived HMS, and we were now in the big house. And we had bands. I will be frank and honest, I was with people, some of which I did not know, some of which I was scared of. But that day we all became so close, and the thing that linked us together was the music. We loved music, and after that show, we loved each other. Think of it this way, I had come to terms with it. The Rescue Camp brought a bunch of Middle Schoolers and made us into great friends. Rebels without a cause now had one... to make people smile. TRC was good for us, it brought us together. But before you know it, the moment has passed. The Rescue Camp is dead, I can see it lying right here. It's no joke. I'm not fooling around. There is nothing I can do to bring it back. But we have the memories. Always remember. The Rescue Camp had a mission of sorts. Some people would like to say that mission is not complete; that it's spawn, Stumped, will rise to bigger and greater hights then TRC could ever dream of. Perhaps it will. But it will never be the same. We were SPX and they were TRC. We were young. We were care-free. We were hopeful. We spent the next year embracing those times that we played together, singing, dancing, screaming, crying. We had the time of our lives. We had the notion that the best was yet to come. Perhaps it will. Until then, good buddies. I won't forget.
