This is the page where various members of Captain Obvious (or anyone else) can write anything they want. Anything from show reviews to how they feel about presidential candidates or anything on their minds. It's the most colorful page too!
9-7-00- (Kenny)(Note from Scott: *This is Kenny's idea of political satire*) This November, we all have the chance to choose who our president is going to be. We get to submit our vote to a little electronic booth and it will be on its way to Washington. Our vote means a lot to the growth of our economy.......Or does it? When the television, radio, and Internet tell us everyday to "Rock The Vote," or that "it will make the difference," we (as people) start to believe it.

In all actuality, what difference does it really make? Are the presidents elected primarily due to popular votes? I don't think so. I cannot believe, in order to become president, all you have to do is rub fat white asses with the politicians currently in office. I don't think it is at all fair that in this country, run "By the people, and for the people," our president is placed in office by a select few government officials. Or even better, get in by name recognition. I think our vote SHOULD make a difference! I think the presidential election should be run the way it was intended to in the first place. If we can't make any difference, why vote?

9-4-00- (Scott) A few nights ago I went to the largest meeting of white trash people on the face of the earth. Am I talking about the fair? A tractor-pull? NO! I'm talking about Motley Crue!!! Hell Yeah! Actually, I wanted to go to see the opener, Megadeth because I have this not-so-secret, semi-embarrassing love for them. Somehow we got tickets about 5 feet from the stage (which means we were by the hookers and extremely drunk people who have been down with the 'Crue since '82). I could probably go on for hours about the trailor hoes in leather and mullets but you can probably imagine. Megadeth was pretty sweet. Those guys are amazing musicians, but I don't like their newer stuff. Now here's the part where I talk about how awesome Motley Crue was, but it wasn't meant to be. They sucked. They're old. They were junkies. It shows. We left halfway through. T-shirts were 30 friggin dollars. Beer was 7 dollars. The tour was sponsored by VH1. Metal just isn't what it used to be.
8/20/00- (Scott) I guess for the first entry into the "other stuff" portion of the website, I'll write about my Warped Tour experience this year. It was on my birthday this year (July 13) and we went to the one in Cleveland. Kenny and I stayed up almost night the night before which was really stupid because we didn't want to get up at 9 in the morning. My girlfriend, Reena, met us at my house and we were supposed to go pick up Bobby. We decided to call him and make sure he was up, but he told us he couldn't go, because he had pulled his groin skating the night before, which was too bad (but so funny!). So we went over to his house and got his ticket so we could sell it and we were off only 30 minutes behind schedule.

If anyone knows about the drive to Cleveland from Columbus, you know it sucks, because it's all construction right now and will be for the next 30 years or something. It's 55 for like 100 miles. We stopped at Burger king on the way and we saw this stupid kid wearing a suit and had the word "ska" shaved into the back of his head. He must not have realized that it was like 90 degrees outside (we actually saw him later at the show with the suit still on soaking wet). Anyway, we made it to Cleveland and got lost, because Cleveland is confusing as hell. The intersections have like 7 streets, not 2 like everywhere else in the world. We just looked for cars with stickers all over and that plan eventually led us to our $10 (ouch!) parking spot.

We waited in line for about 10 minutes to get in and sold Bobby's ticket for like a dollar less than it cost. Once we got in they didn't have those little guidebooks like they had last year to write in the band times, which sucked, but we found a piece of paper and wrote it down. The times worked out perfectly, we got to see everyone we wanted (unlike last year, running between Avail and Pennywise). The first band we watched was Snapcase and they were pretty sweet. I liked them already, but live it's another world. After them was the Suicide Machines, who I have missed every single time they come to Columbus, and I was hoping they would play stuff off of the first album only, cuz the other two are crappy. They were pretty good, but I was getting torn up in the pit and I forgot I had my backpack on and lost like half my buttons. I snuck out about half way and ran into my friend Kurt who used to be in Fletch Wiley. He, of course, let me know how stupid I was for bringing a back pack.

After that we walked around for awhile getting free stuff, which there wasn't nearly as much of as last year. I finally got that Fury 66 cd I had been looking for about year at the Sessions booth. Fat and Drive-Thru both gave out free samplers, which is cool as hell, of course. I got an AFI shirt and Kenny bought a Snapcase shirt, being the hardcore straight-edger he is (for those of you that don't know that was extreme sarcasm). We had about a 2 hour wait for the rest of the bands we wanted to see, so we sat at the mainstage and watched MXPX (boring as usual) and Flogging Molly (just weird). We walked around for awhile more by the merchandise booths before they started roping off the middle of it for the Moto-cross jumps.

Now the moto-cross stuff might have the been the coolest thing I saw all day. We were right up front for these insane guys jumping at least 50 feet in the air off a ramp, doing a trick, and landing on another ramp. It was pretty sweet and I got some cool pictures. If you go to the Warped Tour ever don't miss the moto-cross.

Right after that, was Anti-Flag, who were way better than I thought they would be. It was on the second stage and it felt far away, but it was sweet. They yelled at some guy for groping girls, that was pretty funny cuz he started arguing back and I thought Anti-Flag was about to tell the crowd to beat his ass, which of course would have happened.

After that we went back to the mainstage and sat down for Millencolin who were also better than I expected. I think their cds are mediocre but the show was good. They don't speak english very well and said some pretty odd things but overall it was enjoyable. Next up was Green Day, a band I had waited 5 years to see. Everything about it was amazing. They played all the hits and songs from their old albums. They brought some girl up out of the crowd to play guitar on "Knowledge". There were about 1,000 jealous guys including me, but she did ok. They played my favorite song, "Going to Pasquale" which on the first album and that was amazing. They definately did not let me down. Next was the Bosstones. I used to be into them about 3 years ago, but I'm not a big fan now. It was just like the live cd. After them we went to get some food to get ready for AFI and NOFX!!!!

I was really really exited to see AFI, I had been listening to them constantly for the past few months. They came out in all black and Davey the singer just looked freaky but it was sweet. There were only about 100-150 people that really knew them it seemed, which was odd, so the pit was really tame (fine with me!). At one point we're all screaming along and some girl next to me asked who they were. That was weird. The energy from AFI was amazing and they rocked the hardest of anyone all day. After them was NOFX, a band I've liked forever and never seen. They were ok. Nothing great, nothing bad. They were funny, but played a very odd set of songs you wouldn't expect to hear. Everyone there knew the words of course. After them was the last band of the day, Papa Roach. They were really really loud. Decent for that kind of music. I liked it better than Korn.

After words it took us an hour to get out of the parking lot and everyone had huge headaches. The drive home was tough cuz everyone was asleep and I had to stay awake and drive 55 in the dead of night, well 75, but who really cares? Anyway, the Warped Tour is always a good time. Of course it was over crowded, of course there were too many posers, but how else do you expect to see 20 good bands in one day? Ozzfest? hehe.
