TRICK TIPS

Some things you should know:

  • When you are talking about airs frontside means you turn with your front facing forward, backside means your turn with your back facing forward.
  • When you are talking about grinds or slides frontside means the object you are grinding/sliding on is in front of you, backside means the object your are grinding/sliding on is in back of you.

The Ollie

  1. Put your feet on the board so the front foot is in the middle and the back foot is on the tail so the curve of the toe is even with the curve of your board
  2. Pop down on the tail and slide your front foot up toward the nose
  3. Push forward with your front foot to bring up the back and suck up your feet
  4. Even the board out and land with your weight centered
  5. Ride away and learn a better trick








Frontside 180

  1. Put your feet in the same position as the ollie but with your toes hanging off the board a little
  2. Twist your arms the opposite direction of your spin, like a wind up
  3. Pop down on the tail and pull up with your front foot, swing your arms and point the board at 90 degrees
  4. Push forward with your back foot the rest of the 180 and land
  5. Stay balanced, roll away and say "Wow, now I can start learning some real tricks!"








Backside 180

  1. Put your feet in the same position as the ollie but with your heel hanging off of the board a little
  2. Twist your arms the opposite direction of your spin, like a wind up
  3. Pop down on the tail and pull up with your front foot, swing your arms and point the board at 90 degrees
  4. Pull back with your back foot the rest of the 180 and land
  5. Stay balanced and roll away









The Pop Shuv-it

  1. Put your feet in the same position as the ollie
  2. Pop down hard with your back foot and kick it backwards
  3. Suck up your feet and let the board rotate underneath you
  4. Try to catch the board in the air when it has rotated 180 degrees
  5. Land with your feet over the truck bolts and roll away








The Frontside Pop Shuv-it

  1. Put your feet in the same position as the ollie
  2. Pop down hard with your back foot and push it forwards
  3. Suck up your feet and let the board rotate underneath you
  4. Try to catch the board in the air when it has rotated 180 degrees
  5. Land with your feet over the truck bolts and roll away








The Kickflip

  1. Put your back foot on the tail the same as the ollie and put your front foot in the middle of the board with the heel hanging off
  2. Have both feet angled slightly towards the nose
  3. Kick down with your back foot and slide your front foot up and kick it off of the corner of the nose
  4. Bring up your back foot and let the board spin underneath you
  5. Catch it when it is done spinning and land with your feet over the truck bolts
  6. Keep your weight centered and roll away








The Heelflip

  1. Put your feet in the same position as the ollie but with the toes of the front foot hanging off the board
  2. Kick down with your back foot and slide you front foot up and forward
  3. Kick your heel off the side of nose and bring up your back foot
  4. Let the board spin underneath you and catch it when it is done
  5. Land with your feet over the truck bolts
  6. Keep your weight centered and roll away








The Varial Kickflip

  1. Put your back foot on the tail like you would for an ollie and put your front foot on the board like a kickflip but with a little less of your heel hanging off of the board
  2. Pop down with your back foot and kick backwards like you would for a pop shuv-it
  3. Kick your front foot forward off the side of the nose like a kickflip
  4. Suck your legs up and watch the board rotate underneath you
  5. When the board has flipped all the way around like a kickflip and rotated 180 degrees like a pop shuv-it try to catch it and stop it from over rotating
  6. Land with your feet over the truck bolts and try to keep your balance
  7. Roll away and tell your friends that your better than them








The Boardslide

  1. Put your feet in the same position as the ollie
  2. Ride up parallel to the object
  3. Do and ollie and turn 90 degrees with the middle of your board on the object
  4. Center your weight and lean back to keep sliding
  5. When your reach the end of the object lean your board to the same side that your started on
  6. Pull back with your back foot and push forward with your front foot to straighten the board out
  7. Land straight and roll away








The Frontside Boardslide

  1. Put your feet in the same position as the ollie
  2. Ride up parallel to the object
  3. Do and ollie and turn 90 degrees with the middle of your board on the object
  4. Center your weight and lean forward to keep sliding
  5. When your reach the end of the object lean your board to the same side that your started on
  6. Push forward with your back foot and pull back with your front foot to straighten the board out
  7. Land straight and roll away








The Frontside 50-50

  1. Put your feet in the ollie position
  2. Ride up parallel to the object
  3. Ollie forward pointing the center of your trucks to the object you are grinding
  4. Land on the object centered and keep sliding
  5. When you reach the end of the object push down on the tail and bring up the nose a little bit
  6. When your back trucks clear the object center your weight
  7. Land straight and roll away








The Backside 50-50

  1. Put your feet in the ollie position
  2. Ride up parallel to the object
  3. Ollie backwards pointing the center of your trucks on the object you are grinding
  4. Land on the object centered and keep sliding
  5. When you reach the end of the object push down on the tail and bring up the nose a little bit
  6. When your back trucks clear the object center your weight
  7. Land straight and roll away
