It's Storming outside

by Liz Laycak

It’s storming outside

And I want you in my arms

The lighting strikes

And I know something’s wrong

I hear the thunder pound

And I can feel it in my heart

I’ve gone terribly close to the edge

Now I’m so close to the end.

I don’t want it to be over.

But I suppose, this time,

It really is all my fault.

The rain drops

Match each tear on my cheeks

Down my neck

Caught in my shirt

My heart is pounding so loud

I can’t tell if it’s just the thunder

I wish this rain

Would just fill me to the brim

Then I wouldn’t feel

So empty inside.

I wish the lightening

Would strike, and

Change my destiny

Change what’s meant for you and me.
