Power Strife

by Liz laycak

When the tide is high

And I’m feeling low

Love seems far from existence

I’m on a hunger strike

My starvation moves me

When the sun has set

And my dreams have risen

Time seems to move not for me

Nor for my surroundings

My subconscious

My neighbor

Fails to move in harmony

With the wind

My shrinking shadow,

My follower

Fails to move me

And lead me away from this place

In this long forgotten land of temptation,

My desire has dwindled to pain

My fascination, once a kindling flame,

Is abandoned

But the dream is what moves us

Higher and higher

To an unearthly fortress

Supremacy and greed are no matter

What dream is this?

How unyielding, how full of desire

How feigning in power

Of this, I am sure,

I can never tire.

Celtic Symbol of STRENGTH... such is this poem.
