Punktuation-Yo dude...thanks for taking the time to do this interview!

So you have a newish album out called "Busted Wings & Rusted Halos." What was the most challenging part about writing that record?

SH-The most challenging part of the album was doing vocals for me, Justin really worked me and I became a better singer because of it, long days in a booth!

P-What is the meaning of the title of the album?

SH-It's more or less a play of a hero or an angel that has fell and will never be looked at the same by there peers.

P-You guys have a pretty complicated history since you got together in the summer of 2000. Sort of like a love-hate relationship consisting of breakups, getting back together, putting things on hold, and then going full force. What is the dynamic like now that you guys are solely rockin' out in Somehow Hollow?

SH-It's amazing, we have time just to focus on Somehow Hollow and nothing else, everyone in the band are best friends and we get to hang out all the time, we're having a great time!

P-Do you think the comparisons to Grade are fair, or is Somehow Hollow something completely unique and different? How would you say the two projects differ?

SH-Well, the singing is for sure different, the music I would say is pretty fair to compare, I mean a lot of it sounds like 'Under The Radar', my favourite Grade album!

P-What's the best part about being in a band with your closest friends? Does it ever get to be too much?

SH-Sometimes we fight each other, like when me and Kent do too many JD shots, we always fight, but for the most part it's amazing, we just go out on the road and have a good time, everynight!

P-You guys have been to and seen a lot of things in your time playing in bands. Personally, where is your favorite place to play? And then, generally where do you enjoy travelling to?

SH-My favourite place to play is California, the vibe is just so arrogant down there, it's hilarious. I enjoy travelling to the east coast of Canada, it's very relaxing for some reason and the speed limits are 110!

P-Who are some of your favorite bands?

SH-Moneen, Strung Out, TBS, Mxpx, Grade, Jersey, Blue Rodeo, lots and lots of bands!

P-What is one of the most surprising things that you see happen when you guys play to different crowds?

SH-No real difference between crowds, the NYC crowds are crazy because they get right in the pit and do whatever they can to hurt somebody or show them up, but everyone doesnt mind they expect it, so the other guy is just as rowdy!

P-What would you describe as a perfect performance/show?

SH-Flawless playing, no mistakes, any kind of show that moves me or motivates me in any way is a perfect show.

P-What do you think Somehow Hollow does best?

SH-Probably drinking! Hahahahaha, no seriously you should see the boys hit the bottle!

P-Please name 5 things we don't know about you guys...

SH-We're cute, we're from Canada, we have a music video called KAMLOOPS (please request it), I once almost married someone famous and Shawn has two chins.

P-Do you having any closing comments, words of wisdom, advice, or just any plain rant at all?

SH-Never move in with a girl after being with her for 3 months! Thanks for reading this interview, support the Calgary scene, and we will see you soon.
