Punktuation-What's the name of your band?
Slowride
P-Who makes up Slowride and what does each person play?
SR-Rob plays bass, Steve plays drums, Dan plays guitar and sings
P-Is there any explanation why you guys called yourselves that?
SR.d.-Slowride comes from my dad's old band. They were called Slowriders. I thought it was cool. I actualy wanted to call the band Slowrider, but there was already a band called that in Los Angeles
P-What is your purpose for being here today?
SR.d.-To do an interview, right?
P-Where is home for y'all?
SR-We stay in Dallas
P-Where do you guys fit in amongst the mosaic of musical genres?
SR.d.-We are a rock band x2
SR.s.-Rock n roll!!
SR.r.-Slowride
P-If one was to think of a chemical that would best describe your band, which one might that be?
SR.r.-Budweiser
P-What has your history as a band been up until this point?
SR.d.-Rob and I started the band in August of 98 with Scott Brayfield on the skins. We recorded an ep with 13 recordings in 99, released stuff on a handful of comps, and played tons of shows. We parted ways with Scott in 01, and joined forces with Steve Visneua. We recorded more demos, sent stuff out, and recently signed with Deep Elm Rec. We are recording in May with Ed Rose after a month of touring in April. And after that I dont know what happened.
P-Have any of you been in any past projects?
SR.s.-Well I have have been in Darlington since the begining when we were called Mess. Then I played with the Queers for a year during the punk rock confidential era.
SR.d.-I played with Rev Horton Heat a long time ago and still play with the Magseven.
SR.r.-Mess
P-How does Slowride compare to those projects?
SR.d.-Slowride is pretty unrelated to these projects aside from the punk rockocity.
SR.s.-Both bands of course are great but Slowride has allowed me to play pop but rock harder than I ever have!
SR.r.-Mess was better than Slowride
P-What do you guys do to kill the time when you're not playing in the band?
SR.s.-Well my day job as of now is photo assisting and shooting my own jobs. I look forward to the day that I can shoot and play only.
SR.d.-I have a screen printing shop. You know, t shirts and such. I also have a little recording studio.
SR.r.-Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, butt sex
P-What are some of the most valuable lessons that you guys have learned in your lives?
SR.d.-Step back and take a look at your situation - it isn't as fucked up as you wish it was.
SR.s.-Always have fun!
SR.r.-Don't live with Zack Blair
P-What kinds of issues are discussed in your songs?
SR.d.-The songs are pretty personal. The subject matter is mostly aimed at myself. I've done some bad things to people that I love - so cursing my name to myself over and over again in a song is one way of constantly reminding myself of the mistakes that I've made. Not all of the songs are shitty though - the love songs are for the ladies, the fight songs are for the...uh..fighters, and so on and so forth.
SR.r.-Giving birth, nature
P-What might somebody take home from seeing you guys rock a set (apart from merchandise of course)?
SR.d.-A greater appreciation for Texas
SR.s.-A smile!
SR.r.-My nutz
P-What are the chances of you coming to Canada?
SR.d.-Fuck Canada. We'll be out there sometime..hopefully sooner than later.
SR.r.-We'll be there

SR.r.-Black Flag, Police, Ramones, RFTC, Jawbreaker
P-Who are some of your influences?
SR.d.-Jawbreaker,.....that's it
SR.s.-See above answer.
P-How might you guys be influential to other people?
SR.d.-I don't know. People could learn how to be idiots by watching us perfect the art.
SR.s.-Not to take it all so seriously.
P-Throughout the history of mankind, what historic figure would be the pinnacle of punk rock?
SR.d.-Ian from Minor Threat
SR.s.-The Ramones.
SR.r.-Rob Marchant
P-If you could be on a movie soundtrack, what movie would that be and what song would you pick to put on the soundtrack? (the movie can be any movie of all time)
SR.r.-Non Stop Pop Shots #2, with us covering Whiplash/Metallica
P-What albums have you guys put out and what can we expect music-wise in the future?
SR.d.-We have an ep of old music (mostly fast). We also have another ep of new songs (demo versions of some songs for our new full length) with hand drawn covers and a photo insert. We are recording in May - don't know when that will come out.
P-What are some of your best experiences at a show?
SR.r.-Getting kicked in the jaw after getting my wisdom teeth cut out
SR.s.-Playing in the south of France last year in a small packed club with the kids singing the words in English but had no idea what they meant.
SR.d.-My favorite shows are the low budget shitty p.a. shows where the crowd goes off.
P-And some of your worst and most embarrassing moments at a show?
SR.s.-Too many to mention.
SR.d.-It always sucks when we play at pretentious indie rock shows - we are too punk rock for that ass. And when we play punk rock shows they hate us cause we are too indie rock. I don't know what to do.
SR.r.-None

SR.d.-I put on new strings
SR.s.-Put on my wrist bands.
SR.r.-We kiss each other
P-How did you guys manage to get onto the Emo Diaries 5 compilation?
SR.r.-We told Deep Elm that we'd kick their asses if they didn't put us on it.
SR.d.-We sent in a demo
P-Has that boosted your guys' career at all?
SR.r.-No
SR.d.-Yeah - we are working with Deep Elm now. Things look good
P-What sort of feeling do you guys get at a show when kids are getting into your music?
SR.d.-It rules. It's realy cool to see people into what we are doing. I never expected anyone to give a shit about what I have to say or the music we write. It is a great feeling
SR.s.-The best
SR.r.-Excitement
P-What are some of the best feelings in the world?
SR.r.-Cumming
SR.d.-Love, appreciation, discovering new music and anything else new for that matter, respect
P-Do you guys have any ambitions or hopes for the future?
SR.r.-Play in front of a lot of people every night
SR.d.-Just to fucking rock the world, and possibly win a Grammy
SR.s.-Rock n roll everyday.
P-What might somebody expect from seeing you guys live and how would they prepare for that?
