Punktuation-What is your name and what band do you play in?
NM-My name is Roger and I play bass in No Motiv. Jeremy sings and plays guitar. Pat plays drums, and Max plays guitar.
P-What is the history of No Motiv from beginning to the present?
NM-Well, it all started with Pat and Jeremy jamming Metallica covers back when they were little teenagers. Eventually they asked this guy Dave to play bass and then they asked Max to play guitar..They had just written one of their own songs when Max joined the band...Soon after that they released a seven inch which was put out locally by our friend Fred Hammer. Over the years the band played many shows in California and released a cd on the Edge Recordz and another seven off of Fred's label, It's Alive records. Around the end of 1997 and the beginning of 98 the band started to talk to Vagrant Records and sometime around then the band got signed. They also lost Dave to college and so that's where I enter the picture. So since me joining the band we released two albums on Vagrant, one called "...And The Sadness Prevails" and "Diagram For Healing." We've been touring a lot and making music. That's pretty much it.
P-What were you guys doing before starting this band?
NM-Being in High School...
P-How has playing in this band changed your guys lives?
NM-Well, we suffer from a lack of education everyday...But now we get to go around the country to play to people and we get to make really cool music. We all have day jobs and we all live at home, but we enjoy what we do.
P-A day in the life of No Motiv is...
NM-Well on tour it's a lot of driving, playing shows, sleeping, eating, and socializing...at home its working, sleeping, eating, socializing, and taking showers...
P-How would describe your sound to somebody?
NM-Melodic Punk Rock.
P-What are some of your guys most memorable experiences along the way?
NM-Our first tour with Good Riddance is unforgettable...Playing in Canada with kids knowing our songs...Making friends...Playing with really cool bands...Breaking down 3 times in one tour...
P-What records have you guys put out?
NM-"...And The Sadness Prevails", "Diagram For Healing"
P-Were any of you in any past bands? How did they compare to this?
NM-I've been in a couple local bands before No Motiv...They were bands we'd put together in high school for fun. We just wanted to have fun and play shows. So the goals back then were way different than they are now.
P-Where are you guys from, and what's it like there in comparison to the rest of the world?
NM-We're from Oxnard, Ca. It's where we call home so we always like to be home when we can hahaha.
P-If you could play one show, where would it be, and who would be on the bill?
NM-Tokyo...with all of our friends...
P-Who are some of your guys favorite bands and influences?
NM-We like all kinds of different music... There's anything from Foo Fighters to Bad Company, Pixies to Metallica, The Who to Turn for the Better, Face to Face to Garbage, Blink-182 to Incubus, Alkaline Trio to 2pac....All kinds of stuff

NM-Really fucking cool. Player is hot.
P-How was it working with Trever Keith on your latest album?

P-What are some of the weird things you guys do for prepping to play a show, or while practicing?
