the Story

This page is about one of the most snottiest punk bands in history. Many rumors have been spread about the history of the Pukes. Well I'm here to tell you what I know. Lets start off by saying this band was formed as a joke. The purpose of the band was to crash party's and pop punk shows. Which you'll hear about soon. The band originally formed in 1997 in Dunedin, FL. Rikki Hollywood (who's name was meant to sarcastically mock rock idols) founded the band in the summer of 97. He teamed up with local drummer Justin. They both knew a guy named Andy who played bass. After auditioning several guitarists Rikki recruited his friend Joe who had a lot of gear and a horrible case of turret. Apparently they met one day in the high skool parking lot an skipped skool to drink booze. After getting together as a group and writing some messed up tunes everyone was stoked on the idea of forming a band that would piss off people.

After a few jam sessions they had a enough songs to play. So they booked as many shows as they could without having a demo and sometimes under other band names. Their first show was a pretty intense considering the fact they got kicked of stage in the middle of their 2nd song. Something about the crowd knocking down a wall due to the circle pit and the fact they went on stage without being announced. They spent all their money on making fliers for that show. Eventually after the crowd got a little mad they were granted a few songs. I remember specifically hearing Hollywood chant Kill Kill Kill Your Parents Murder Your Mom and Dad!!! Then all of a sudden the place was trashed with spikey haired mohicans and skinheads throwing each other around. I think the best part about that song was when Rikki got on the mic and said "I love my parents... But sometimes I just want to fucking Kill them!" Those famous words I think did the trick.
After the show the band was trespassed for lewd behavior, underage consumption and a hefty $500.00 worth of damages to the stage equipment.
About 2 weeks following this disaster Rikki dropped out of High Skool to pursue his dream. Later the rest of the band followed in his foot steps. That weekend they played a show at Brass Mug in Tampa. Can You guess the outcome? Lets just say they managed to catch brass mugs stage on fire and put a huge crack down the stage. Which resulted in a bunch of angry punk rockers and club owners. That night they were promised a dat tape of their performance. The sound guy wouldn't give them their tape due to the damages done. The band then got in a fight with one of the bouncers. Soon after the whole concert started a riot out front with a bunch of bottle throwing and blood. That night the band was arrested as well as a few roadies. Actually that show got on the news as well as public access and on Countryside High Schools morning tv program.
At this time the band has established a variety of listeners and not to mention groupies. Their shows got so packed you couldn't even walk 500+ crowds Due to their reputation, style, and offensive songs. I remember seeing people wearing their T-Shirts with their song titles on it. Everybody in the scene heard how crazy their shows were. Back in the day their was nothing to do and nowhere to go so a lot of people would go downtown and hang around coffee shops, malls and what not. It seemed liked everyone who looked punk had on their patch or or button.
Back in 98 or 99 when the Casualties did their 1st american tour to the south. The Pukes opened up for them. The Casualties were a little bit nervous to play with them as well as Anti-Flag and the Unseen. Which btw all had sunburns and were sick.
The Pukes got huge quick but soon after their bass player Andy was put into a mental institution. Ben the new bass player knocked up his high skool sweet heart. Rikki moved on to another band and Justin formed a Rockabilly band. The band was over for now.
Despite the rumors of Rikki committing suicide or Andrew overdosing. They band still lives today. I heard a rumor they might be back together with a new a new drummer.
