MI Pride 2003
The Parade
We tried to get there early; it was my first Pride. We ended up arriving just before the parade started, short two friends that were supposed to come, and not sure if we had parked legally. The parade was... a parade. After it was over, we went in to look at all the activist and vendor booths. I shoulda bought a Between the Lines tee, I read it all the time and it's free.

The handful of anti-gay protestors on the sidewalk provide an interesting backdrop for the marcher carrying a "PROUDLY CHRISTIAN- STRAIGHT BUT NOT NARROW" sign
Bitch and Animal
Bitch and Animal performing was actually our main motivation for going. I mean, of course I really wanted to go to Pride, but Bitch and Animal made the really bad sunburn, $4.50 hot dogs, occasional boredom, and huge bathroom line all worth driving an hour and a half to get to. And, naturally, they were spectacular...

And after the concert they signed things. Yay!

*squeal* I touched Bitch! (I'm a little excitable when it comes to Bitch and Animal.)
Melissa Ferrick
Melissa Ferrick went on right after Bitch and Animal. We were running around trying to get things signed and meet them, but when Melissa played Drive I booked it toward the stage.

Riverside Park
Me and Liz sitting on the dock. We spent quite awhile there between looking at booths and waiting for Bitch and Animal. Liz talked to everyone who paused within a three foot radius of her for 4.47 seconds or more. I decided that was a good thing, because otherwise I wouldn't have "met" anyone, and isn't that part of going to Pride? Being a part of the visible community? Ok then.
