Daïtro was a French DIY screamo band from Lyon, France. The line-up consists of lead singer Aurelien Verdant, guitarist and singer Julien Paget, bassist Gwenaël Grosclaude, guitarist Samuel Moncharmont, and drummer Benoît Desvignes. Translated from Daïtro's Spanish Wikipedia Page:
Daïtro was a screamo band originally from Lyon, Rhone-Alpes, France. The band has a chaotic combination of discord, the melodic elements of post-rock, and emoviolence.
Some of the band's biggest influences include Joy Division, At The Drive-In, Refused, Orchid, Saetia, Amanda Woodward, Yage, Twelve Hour Turn, and Breach.
In 1997, teenagers Julien Paget, Benoît Desvignes, and Samuel Moncharmont began learning to play instruments in order to form a band. In 2000, together with a bass player named Thomas, Daïtro was formed. The band began with performances in France. In June 2003, the band performed for the first time in a foreign country, Slovenia, followed by China, Italy, Germany, Spain, England, Poland, Japan, etc. throughout their career, plus a U.S. tour from July to August 2007.
In December 2003, the band released their first official work, the E.P. Des Cendres, Je Me Consume. Soon after in January 2004, the former lead singer of Gantz, Aurelien Verdant, joined the band, and Thomas left. A friend of Julien's, Gwenaël Grosclaude from the band Simfela, became a fill-in bassist. After a tour of Europe, Grosclaude became an official member, and Daïtro's first studio album, Laisser Vivre Les Squelettes was released in October 2005.
In May 2006, the band toured in Japan, after being invited by Yoshi, owner of the independent label Tokyo DIY. They played ten shows over two weeks with bands like Heaven in Her Arms, Missing You is Killing Me, Endzweck, and Killie. Yoshi and his label released a Japanese edition of the album Laisser Vivre Les Squelettes on CD.
In December 2007, Daïtro was in Germany with Sed Non Satiata and Heaven in Her Arms (from Japan). Together with Sed Non Satiata, the band prepared a split with the support of an Italian social organization, but due to budget problems, it wasn't released until the end of 2008. Proceeds from this album went to support for various French social organizations, such as the deaf and children with autism. In America, revenues from sales of the record went to children without families.
In December 2008, the band announced via MySpace that they would go on a temporary hiatus due to new musical projects. In 2009, the second full-length album of the band, Y, was released.
The quintet announced their comeback in January 2012. On May 19, Daïtro performed in France with Sed Non Satiata. Their inclusion in the Kafe Kult Fest and Fluff Fest were also announced, but due to a problem in Benoît's fingers, the band had to drop. On August 13, 2012, the band announced their hiatus.
Julien and Gwen are currently in the emo band 12XU. Sam is in an instrumental mathcore band called Ancre. Gwen, Sam, and Julien have a noisepunk band called Baton Rouge. Sam also participates in Faute Improvisate 6E.
