Reviews The Letdowns 4 Song CD/EP Well, the Letdowns have done it again: they've managed to impress the hell out of me with their new stuff. Everytime I hear something new by The Letdowns, it just seems to get better. After Letdowns drummer Jordan kept telling me, "This is our best stuff yet" over and over, I was just like, "Give me a damn CD already so I can hear it!" And he wasn't lying. The CD features three brand new songs, plus a re-make of their fan favorite, "TV Girls." And of course, all of this new material features new guitarist Andy Kohler(ex-Muff Dive, ex-Big Daddy Shotgun). "Punk Rock Dream Girl," the opening track, features an old-school rock and roll riff, and lots of Beach Boys-style harmonies throughout the verses. "Again and Again" just seems to get stuck in your head every time you hear it; it's catchy as hell. And "Girl Like You"(which at first I thought was a cover of the old Smithereens classic) just rocks, complete with sappy love lyrics and rock and roll sound, the style thathas made the Letdowns one of the more promising Williamsport bands. I'd reccomend this to anyone. And of course, it's all released on King Kong records(he he). I can't wait to see these guys live, if their half as good as the 7", its guaranteed to be a good show. Appears In Issue Number 2 SKATEPUNK Magazine Beer City UNDERGROUND Invasion Vol.#3 comp. With a long list of new underground talent (30 bands), The Letdowns come out ahead as one of the more promising. Along with several other bands such as Life Of Riley, Penelty Box, The Stuffragettes, and the Wimpy Dicks. The Letdowns track (Motor Mouth) opens to the annoying babble of some poster-girl cheerleader ranting about her all too important social life...then comes the loud shout of The Letdowns "shut up. "A kick in the head to poster-girls everywhere. Then comes the roar of the abrasive and steady guitar riffs. The Letdowns remind me of the Queers on rocket fuel, with the sort of tempo that would make most drummers keel over dead. These guys aren't as melodic as I'm used to, but their beer guzzling/porn loving attitude has won me over. Something and straight-ahead punk fan would love. ...reviewed by...
