In the modern year 2002, a young world traveler, self-styled anthropologist and cultural atache, was, through the ineffable Will of mighty Lord Satan, made possessor of a relic of inestimable value: a codex dating from the early 16th century, penned by one Leonardo Da Vinci himself. This codex was the most recent incarnation of a text which is rewritten by each new owner, in a type of unholy apostolic succession, dating back to its first owner in its present iteration, Apollonius of Tyana. The text, as such, is not titled, it is essentially a series of appendices to a short treatise on theology and ritual, with each appendix adding commentary and a new Great Working performed at the behest of Lord Satan and in keeping with the course of the Plan. Upon performing one of these Archaic rituals in which he called on Satan to install him as the current Pontifex Maximus, the young traveler was visited by an apparition of Satan in His true Angelic form in which the Meggido Working was revealed, and the current phase of the Master's Plan was made known.
