BACKGROUND
After a productive and high-scoring career as a collegian at the University of Missouri, Anthony Peeler was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round (15th pick overall) of the 1992 NBA Draft. Began playing with the Minnesota Timberwolves mid-season of the 1997-98 campaign. Has become an exciting guard who can burn defenses with a long-range bomb or a slash to the hoop.

2001-02:
Ended his 10th year in the NBA (fifth in Minnesota) by coming off the bench in all 82 games...Averaged a career-low 9.0 ppg, but matched his career best from the line at 86.2%, including 96.3% on the road (26-for-27)...Had eight rebounds on 1/23/02 at Detroit, his best total of the season...Led the Wolves with 20 points (all in the first half) on 3/5/02 at Seattle, one of three 20+ efforts on the year (two vs. Seattle) and one of two times he'd been Minnesota's top scorer...However, in the final 22 games, he shot just 38.1% (69-for-181) ... The Feb. 17 game vs. Miami was the 600th of his career ... Scored 9.9 ppg (shooting 44.0%) as a reserve, compared to 9.5 ppg (42.4%) in his starts ... Connected on a team-leading 85 three-pointers, including a game-winning trey with :00.2 left March 22 at Boston ... Scored his 5,000th career point Feb. 29 vs. Charlotte, and sank his 500th career three-pointer Jan. 31 vs. Sacramento.

1998-99:
Missed two games early in the year (Feb. 9-11) with a swollen left knee, then spent 20 games on the Injured List (March 16-April 18) due to a strained left calf suffered March 15 vs. Utah ... Started all 28 of his appearances, including the final eight games; he averaged 9.8 ppg and 34.4 mpg after being activated ... Hit four treys in the finale at Phoenix (May 5), matching the club single-game season high ... Posted 15 double-figure scoring efforts, including a season-high 20 points March 12 at Sacramento ... Handed out a season-high eight assists May 1 vs. the Clippers, and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds March 9 vs. Seattle.

1997-98:
Set a club single-season record for three-point accuracy, hitting 45.3% (48-for-106) ... Started the last 24 games, averaging 35.0 mpg, 14.6 ppg (45.7%), 3.9 rpg, 3.9 apg and 1.92 spg ... Made his Timberwolves debut Feb. 22, scoring 16 points in 22 minutes vs. Sacramento ... Led Minnesota in scoring on three occasions, including a season-high 23 at Dallas on March 23 ... Also had six steals in that game, a season high for a Wolves player ... Appeared in eight games for Vancouver, averaging 9.9 ppg ... Placed on the Injured List on Dec. 5 with a sore right knee.

1996-97:
Joined Vancouver in an off-season (July 16) deal with the L.A. Lakers ... Averaged a career-high 14.5 ppg and 3.6 apg ... Played in 72 games, with 57 starts, missing 10 due to knee injuries ... Set a Grizzlies single-game scoring record with a career-high 40 points at New Jersey on Feb. 14 ... Posted career highs and Vancouver single-season bests by going 128-of-343 from three-point range ... Scored in double figures 54 times, with 20+ points 17 times and 30+ three times ... Tallied a career-high 40 points, a franchise record, in a 111-105 loss at New Jersey on Feb. 4 ... Set a team record by sinking 34 consecutive free throws from Jan. 19 through March 6 and a streak of 21 consecutive games in which he scored in double figures from Nov. 30 through Jan. 14.

1995-96:
Appeared in 73 games, averaging 9.7 ppg and 1.6 apg ... Ranked 19th in the NBA in three-point field goal percentage at 41.3%. ... Became only the second Laker, joining Byron Scott, ever to shoot .400 or better from three-point range over an entire season ... Converted a season-high five three-pointers at Golden State on Nov. 11 ... Contributed to the Lakers' late-season playoff charge, scoring 10 points or more in the fourth quarter of five of nine games between March 29 and April 12 and averaging 13.8 ppg over the last 10 games of the regular season.

1994-95:
Saw action in 73 games, averaging 10.4 ppg and 1.7 apg ... Ranked 26th in the NBA in three-point field goal percentage, and shot a team-best 79.7% from the charity stripe. Began the season as a reserve for the Los Angeles Lakers, backing up rookie shooting guard Eddie Jones ... Peeler stepped in as a starter late in the season when Jones was sidelined with an injury ... Led the Lakers in scoring 11 times and paced the team with a .797 free-throw percentage ... Sank four or more treys in a game five times.

1993-94:
Was sidelined for the final 47 games of the season with a stress fracture in his left leg after missing the first five games of the season with tendinitis in his right knee ... Averaged 14.1 ppg and 3.1 apg ... Appeared in only 30 games, all as a starter. When healthy, he was the Los Angeles Lakers' second-leading scorer with 14.1 points per game ... Hit season highs with 7 assists and a career-high 28 points against the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 4.

1992-93:
Became the first Lakers rookie to average double figures (10.4 ppg) since Byron Scott in 1983-84 ... Started 11 games ... Appeared in 77 games, starting 11 ... Scored a season-high 25 points against the Indiana Pacers on January 28.

COLLEGE:
Peeler left the University of Missouri ranked first all-time in assists and steals, second in three-pointers and third in scoring. In his terrific 1991-92 senior season he was named the Big Eight Conference's Player of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year. The conference's scoring leader at 23.4 points per game, he was also a Second-Team All-American and a finalist for the Wooden and Naismith Awards.
