Founded in July 1999, the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) is a non-profit organization developed to address the need for resources, education and professionalism in the field of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). EAP incorporates horses experientially for emotional growth and learning. It is a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist and a horse professional working with clients and horses to address treatment goals. Activities with the horses are designed to address real life issues in a beautiful country side setting. Horses don’t accept “talk.” It’s one thing to discuss in group how you react when you are frustrated however, client’s honest reactions become very clear when the horses are not doing what they want them to do. Unlike traditional therapy, clients quickly recognize unhealthy patterns and we help them develop new behaviors. We use EAGALA certified professionals to work with a wide range of behavioral issues such as addictions, teamwork, anger management, stress management, coping skills, leadership, and more…
