Rage lose in semifinals at  NABA World Series  (10/9/05)

In their first year traveling to the NABA World Series, The Rage made it into the semifinals before losing to the eventual Champions – Tigres.  All in all, the Rage finished 4-2-1.  They rattled off three straight wins from Friday to Saturday to lock in the #3 seed in Pool play.  In the first playoff game, the Rage handled the OC Warriors at Fitch Field. Against the Tigres at Maryvale Field, the Rage ran out of gas in their seventh game in four days.  The Rage sticks were only able to muster 4 hits in 9 innings including their only homerun of the tournament by Woodward.

The Rage did have some strong pitching during the tournament:

Cartwright 4 IP, 1 ER, 3 K’s

As the Rage Sticks saw some better pitching, they weren’t as hot as usual…A few Ragers managed to put up some good numbers:

Woodward had a great tournament, taking in 22 total bases in his final appearance for the Rage….Congratulations and Good Luck Woody.

Rage ready for World Series in Arizona starting Oct 5th (10/3/05)

The 18AA NABA World Seriestournament begins October 6th with 5 games of pool play.  Playoffs begin the night of the 8th, with the championship game on the 9th at 12:30 @ Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, AZ.  The Northern Rage take a strong squad down to Arizona.

Rage take down Labor Day tournament in Port Angeles (9/6/05)

The wins just keep coming for the Rage as they breeze through five games to capture first place in Port Angeles, WA.  The Rage picked up some arms to get it done.  The star pitchers included:

Game 1 - Rage 12, At Crusades 7
O'Leary 3 2/3 IP, 1 Hit, 4 K's & B. Perry 3 IP, 1 ER, 4 Hits

Game 2 - Rage 11, at Cannons 0

The Rage sticks were led by Newcomer Brian Perry, who contributed a .643 Batting Average (9-14) with 5 Runs and 9 RBI.  Other Ragers who had a good tournament included:

CHAMPS! (8/27/05)

Northern Rage  6   vs.  Mariners  3

This was a hard fought battle between two top teams in the NABA.  Hats off to the Mariners for giving it their all.  Paul Arellano threw six strong innings, allowing 1 earned run and striking out two.  Ryan Patrick then threw two innings, allowing no runs and striking out one.  Mick Maestas closed it out, allowing one run and striking out one.  Joe Miller went the distance for the Mariners. 
Only a couple Ragers had success against him: 

Woodward (3-4) 2B, 3B, 2 Runs
Kilmer (3-4) 2B, RBI

Rage win battle in extra innings & earn spot in the title game.(8/21/05)

Northern Rage  6   vs.  Rainiers  5

The Rage won their first playoff game ever in a tough fought battle versus Chris Boyd and the Bothell Rainiers in extra innings.  The win avenges last year’s first round loss against the same Rainiers.

It was quite a pitcher’s duel as Patrick went head to head against Boyd.  Patrick pitched seven strong innings, allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 6.  Maestas finished the game by throwing the last three innings for the win, striking out 5.  Boyd went the distance (10 innings) in the loss, striking out 15 Ragers.

Many Rage hitters had tough days at the plate.  Only four batters had multi-hit days:

Woodward (2-3) HR, 2 Runs, 3 RBI
O’Leary (3-5) 3 Runs
Williams (2-4) 2B
Psaradelis (2-5) 3B

Sam Chamaty came up clutch in the bottom of the tenth with the game winning single to score Mike O’Leary with TWO outs.  Great Job RAGE.

Next Up:  Championship game next Saturday vs. the Skyway Mariners.  Game is at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue at 12:30.

A huge offensive output gives Rage win to clinch league title(8/7/05)

The Rage locked up the 2005 League Title on Sunday versus the Dodgers.  The bats were hot, blasting 17 singles, 6 doubles, and 3 HR.  A few of the stars of the day included:

Psaradelis (6-6) 3 2B, HR, 5 RBI 
Keller (3-4) 2B, 3 Runs
Perry (3-4) HR, 5 RBI 
Songhurst (3-5) 4 RBI

Arellano threw 2 hit ball over 6 innings, striking out 8.  Maestas came in for the final inning to eventually strike out the side.

The Rage have a bye next weekend and await the announcement of their first round playoff opponent.  It will most likely be the Rainiers, a rematch from last year playoff defeat at Kent Memorial Park at 12:30 PM.

Rage win a slugfest against the 3rd place Mariners. (7/31/05)

After a slow start, the Rage sticks turned it on and put up 15 runs against the third place Mariners to even up the season series.  Four different Ragers hit bombs on the day, and a few had great days at the plate:

Perry (3-5) 2 2B, HR, 6 RBI
Woodward HR
Psaradelis HR

 The Mariners also hit four bombs off Rage pitching (Rindy, Abbott, Parnel, and Jennings).

Patrick pitched seven strong innings, keeping the Rage in the game the whole way.  Despite giving up 13 hits, he only allowed 7 runs and struck out 8.  He also had two pick-offs at second base.  Arellano pitched the last two innings, giving up a run and striking out two.

Next Up: Sunday 8/7/05 versus the Dodgers at 10AM @ Shorecrest High School.  A possible double header following the game versus a team from Port Angeles.  More to follow…….

Rage win a nail biter with a steal home by Woodward. (7/24/05)

The Rage evened up the season series with a tough fought battle over the Jacks in 7 innings.  The game was a well-pitched one, featuring Jacks ace Gerlitz versus Songhurst.  The Rage had some more defensive troubles in the second game, allowing four runs to the Jacks, none of them earned.  Ryan Woodward hit a leadoff triple in the bottom of the seventh.  After Gerlitz struck out two batters and with an 0-1 count on the batter, Woodward stole home to score the winning run. Three Ragers had good days at the plate including the former Singles King:

Songhurst gave up no ER, striking out 11 Jacks along the way.  Maestas threw a scoreless seventh to secure the win.

Whiskey Jacks steal another win from the Northern Rage. (7/24/05)

The Jacks came out and took advantage of every Rage error to squeeze out the win in just 7 innings.  Commissioner Pat Fetty kept the Rage bats in check over 6+ innings.  A few Ragers had some success at the plate:

 Ryan Patrick threw well again, but fell to 6-2 behind several errors.  He allowed only four earned runs over 6 innings, striking out 7.  It’s too bad the game was shortened after only 2 hours, 15 minutes because the Rage bats were starting to heat up.

Rage get back on track with another win against the Royals. (7/17/05)

The Rage bats weren’t kept down for more than one game.  Almost every starter had at least one hit in the second game of this double header.  Leading the way with the sticks were:

Arellano dealt dirt stuff for five innings allowing one earned run and striking out 3.  Maestas earned his second save of the season, going 3 innings and striking out 2.

Shaky defensive ends the Rage's win streak. (7/17/05)

Whiskey Jacks  16   vs.  Northern Rage  7

The Jacks bats were hot in this one, pounding out 19 hits off three Rage pitchers. After a tight first two innings for both teams, the Rage got on the board in the third behind doubles from Sam Chamaty and Justin Williams.  The Rage came back again with five runs in the top of the 6th, highlighted by Ryan Woodwards 3-run blast to left. The sixth and seventh innings were all Jacks, as they batted around in each inning, getting 4 and 5 runs respectively before the time limit ended this game after seven.

Hot bats add another win to the Rage winning streak. (7/10/05)

Northern Rage 15  vs.  Reds 6

The franchise high win streak reaches 10 games.  The slaughter continued with the stroke of leadoff hitter Sean Psaradelis, who sparked a 5 run first inning with a laced single.  Every Rage hitter had at least one hit, and only three hitters failed to get their second hit.  Several Ragers had great days at the plate

Chris Songhurst secured his 3rd win with his first start of the season.  Songhurst allowed 1 ER on 8 hits, striking out 2 Reds batters.  Arellano came in for the last three innings, striking out two to secure the win.

Next up:  Double header versus WhiskeyJacks and Royals, Sunday beginning at 12:00 @ White Center Park in West Seattle.

Rage make use of the leagues 10-run rule....again. (7/10/05)

Northern Rage 11  vs.  Reds 1

Ryan Patrick boosted the Rage winning streak up to 9 games with a stellar performance against the Reds.  Patrick posted six innings of shutout ball allowing 2 hits and striking out 10.  Maestas closed out the last two innings, posting two strikeouts and allowing one earned run.

 The Rage pounded away off the Reds pitchers, accumulating 18 hits to go with their 11 runs.  Almost every starter had a base hit.  Some new faces made their way to the offensive star list for this game:

Rage add one more win w/dominant performance over Royals.  (6/26/05)

Northern Rage 11  vs.  Royals 1

The winning streak continues up to 8 games as the Rage played great all around baseball to capture the win in seven innings.  Arellano threw lights out again, giving up 1 run in five innings, striking out 5.  Songhurst was swinging the big stick today.  In the fourth inning, he dropped a 3-run bomb off Royals reliever Strand.  He added two more hits to have a 3-4 day at the plate with 4 RBI.  Newcomer Rey Caruto was the only other standout, having a 2-3 day with a run scored.  Royals bats were baffled by Rage Relievers Songhurst and Maestas, who threw one inning a piece, allowing no baserunners and striking out one.  It was another great outing on the bump for the Rage:  1 ER, 4 hits, and 7 K’s.

 Next up: Fourth of July weekend….Various Ragers will be taking part in local tournaments…Good luck Fellas!

Rage winning streak moves to 7 with another win vs Rainiers (6/19/05)

The winning streak continues to 7 games for the hot bats of the Rage.  For the third time in three weeks, Rainiers pitcher Boyd pitched a good game, but didn’t get the support from his offense.  Rainiers pitching kept the Rage in check for most of the day, striking out 13 batter.  A huge amount of credit for the Rage win goes to Ryan Patrick, who threw shutout ball over 7 innings, allowing only two hits and striking out 9 Rainiers.  Mick came in the 8th and struck out all three Rainiers he faced.  In the bottom of the 8th, the Rage offense closed out the day by putting up 7 runs, capped by a walk off Grand Slam by Woodward.  Other Rage hitters for the day included:

Rage continued their early season winning streak to six games with a well fought game over the Rainiers.  The Rainiers threw Boyd who gave up all 7 Rage runs over 7 innings, striking out 9.  Some key hitters for the Rage included:

Arellano allowed just 2 runs in five innings, striking out 8 along the way.  Songhurst threw three scoreless innings with 4 K's.  Maestas cleaned up the 9th inning, recording one K.

Rage sticks remained hot in this make-up game on Saturday evening.  For the day, the Rage bats had 21 runs on 21 hits, with 5 2B’s & 4 HR’s.  The top hitters of the night included:

Coach Jeff Perry announces his 2005 All-Star selections (6/8/05)

The 2005 18-American All-Star Game will be played on Monday, June 13th at 7:30pm at Marymoor Park (Field #1).  With their win last weekend the Rage moved into 1st place and they get to send 5 players to represent the team in the All-Star Game.  Coach Jeff Perry announced his selections from the Northern Rage squad.

Solid pitching performance by Patrick pushes Rage into 1st (6/5/05)

Despite a month break in games, the Rage came out with something to prove against the 1st place Rainiers.  This game of two top NABA teams saw the Rage sticks avenge last years' playoff defeat versus the Rainiers and their starting pitcher Boyd.  Six Rage hitters had multiple hit games:

Psaradelis (2-4) 3B, 2 Runs, 2 RBI 
Perry (2-4) 2B, 3 Run HR, 5 RBI 
Songhurst (2-4) 2B, 2 Runs

Rage starting pitcher Patrick dealt for six innings and outside of a shaky first inning, he allowed only 1 earned run on 5 hits, with 5 K’s and no free passes.  He kept the Rainier hitters off balanced all day.  Maestas came in the seventh inning, setting down the side with 2 K’s.

Next Weekend-  Rage play on Saturday vs the Reds at Evergreen HS at 6:00pm and play Sunday vs the Rainiers at Green River CC at 12:30pm.

Rage bats stay hot as they beat up on Dodgers with 17 runs (05/8/05)

The hot sticks of the Rage needed just seven innings to put away the former National League Dodgers.  The Dodgers starting pitcher was assaulted for 16 runs on 17 hits in the first three innings.  Leading the Rage hitters of the day were:

Arellano (4) and Songhurst (2) combined to shutout the Dodgers over six innings.  The Dodgers manage to did get to Maestas for 3 runs on 4 hits in the seventh.

 Next weekend – Rage try to avenge their playoff loss against the Rainiers and ace pitcher Boyd at Wilburton Park at 9 am.

14 Runs and a solid defensive effort push Rage past Jacks (05/1/05)

This game was closed out after 8 innings by the victorious Rage.  Several Rage Players had solid days at the plate:

Coupled with Patrick’s winning performance ( 6IP, 4 Runs, 4 K’s), the Rage were unstoppable against the defending league champs.  Keller had an amazing day at the plate, and the Rage made no defensive errors.  Maestas and Songhurst wasted no time retiring the Jacks in the 7th and 8th inning.

Rage rally to win their second of the season (04/24/05)

Northern Rage 10  vs.  Reds 5

The Reds jumped out to a quick 4-run lead off Rage starter Paul Arellano in the second inning.  The Rage finally broke through against Reds pitching for one run in the fourth thanks to a Ryan Woodward triple(2-4 3 runs, 2 RBI).  The following inning, Songhurst crushed a 2-0 offering from his brother over the fence for a clutch 2-out, 2-run homerun.  In the 6th inning, Perry dropped a 2 run homer over the left field fence to tie the game up.  The seventh came around to hot Rager bats.  Woodward laced a 2 run single up the middle and Chamaty mashed a 3 run bomb to solidify the win.

Rage Relievers (Patrick (3 inn.), Songhurst (1), and Maestas(1)) only allowed 1 run and struck out four Reds over 5 innings and allowed only 3 hits.

Rage open the 2005 season with a bang (04/9/05)

Northern Rage 10  vs.  Reds 7

The Rage put the game away early in the morning scoring all 10 of their runs in the first four innings.  In the the second inning, Kilmer dropped a three-run bomb over the left field fence.  Perry, Kilmer and Williams all contributed with two hits a piece.  Kilmer also went on to help the team by driving in five runs in the game.  Patrick pitched five strong innings, allowing five runs while striking out five.

Mariners 15  vs.  Northern Rage 13

In the second game of the day, the Rage bats continued to heat up as they scored 13 runs off of the Mariners pitchers.  Unfortunately, Mariner pitcher Rick Leyes earned his third straight win over the Rage, striking out nine batters over six innings.  The bright spots in the Rage lineup were Songhurst, Keller, and O'Leary who each smashed 3 hits.  Keller had a double and a triple, Songhurst contributed two doubles and O'Leary (the Singles King) notched three more singles in the losing effort.  Chamaty and Perry each blasted Home Runs in the loss as well. 

It was a hard fought battle between the two top teams in the American Division.  There were three lead changes and several rallies.  The Rage look forward to more battles versus the Mariners, hopefully ending up on the winning side next time.
