Summary of "The Raven"
Stanza 18:
And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted- nevermore!
Paraphrased Stanza 18:
and the Raven, never moving, is still sitting
On the serene statue of Pallas just above my door;
and his eyes seem like those of a demon
And the lamplight that streams over him casts his shadown on the floor;
And for the rest of my life, my soul will be trapped under the shadow which flickers across the floor.
