What is an alternative psychology?

Basically there are three kinds of medicine in the world:

  • Contemporary, which is studied at Universities, and is accepted in all the medical institutions of the western world.

  • Alternative medicine, which originates from Ayur-Veda which served as a base for later western medical schools - Chinese ancient school, Tibetan, etc.
  • Folk medicine- healers, magicians, shamans, etc. This group is difficult to classify because unlike the other two groups, it lacks any kind of system.

Consequently, every kind of medicine has its own matching philosophy. The modern psychology, which is based on the concept “I am this body”, views a person as a smarter ape. Although it claims to work with one’s personality and mind, it has not any clear concept of either one or the other. Ask any modern specialist to tell you frankly what is a soul or a personality. You will never get a clear answer.

Some representatives of the third group call themselves psychologists or even alternative psychologists, but it is more correct to refer to them as parapsychologists, bioenergetics, mediums or… frauds, who sell magic amulets or “remove” love damnation for large sums of money. Many of them are born psychologists or marketologists, expert in convincing people and “playing” on their weaknesses. The main principle of that group is “come to me and I will fulfill any of your desires, because you yourself are very weak”.

Now we will return to the second group - the alternative medicine, of which the alternative psychology is the main part. For all the eastern philosophical and medical schools teach that the reasons for our illnesses and misfortunes in life (or on the contrary, reasons for good health and happiness) are our mentality, character, outlook and our attitude towards ourselves and to the world as a whole.

Long before Hippocrates was born, in the east there had already existed the treatises which examined in detail not only a gross, but also a subtle body, as well as a psychological aspect of personality. And these were not mere philosophical books, not at all. They precisely described a subtle body, the soul, energy centers (chakras), subtle air channels, psychological types of personalities, concept of intelligence, senses, mind, true ego, etc.

The main postulate of the Alternative psychology is that we are spiritual souls, incarnating into material bodies. By our thoughts, desires and actions we create our destiny. Only the person himself is able to change his destiny and get cured. A healer or a doctor can only postpone the problem or the disease for some time. Nobody, however, is able to neutralize a person’s karma or to “remove” his sins - it can only be done by the person himself through confession, changing his character, outlook, and behavior. The main sin is killing the love in the soul and living by gross selfishness.

The more a person is selfish, greedy, jealous, proud, cowardly, etc., the less happy he is, the sicker is his soul, and consequently, his body. All the religions and esoteric schools state that God is love. And the soul, being a part of God, cannot live without love. Love is the breath of the soul. The entire Universe is trying to help us restore and accumulate the unconditional love in our souls and to save us from gross egoism. And this is the only purpose of our coming into the material world. Each one around us - our parents, friends, children, colleagues - is our teacher through whom we get certain lessons, according to the level of our spiritual evolution. Nobody comes into our life and nothing happens to us by chance. There is no fortuity.

Ayur-Veda says, “All the evil is within the person - outside is goodness only”. Many people will not agree with this statement; they may say, “I am such a good and kind person, but outside there’s so much evil, injustice, diseases, disasters, and so on.” But this idea comes from the concept “I am a body”, where everything outside that is good for the body, namely- wealth, tasty foodstuffs, nice house, and happy fortune - is divine. And everything that is bad for the body - diseases, treachery, accidents, etc. – comes from the devil, from injustice or because of the nature’s mistake.

Ayur-Veda, however, is based on the absolute concept of “Aham Brahmasmi”- I am a soul, a part of the Supreme Spirit. From the absolute point of view, everything that helps “recall” this conception and revive our love to God is good and truly beneficial. Everything that prevents us from it is evil. Since there is no fortuity and the main goal of everything that happens is to help us “recall and love”, thus everything that happens around us is for good only. And where is the evil? It is inside us, it lies in our selfishness and separation from other living beings.

Since we only come into this world in order to decrease the evil inside us, our success in life is determined by how much we have succeeded in this. If a person has material benefits due to his good karma, but his pride and selfishness have not decreased, his life is useless. On the other hand, if a person lives in poverty but has no dejection, aggressiveness and fear in his soul, and he develops unconditional love, then his life becomes perfect.

This is what alternative psychology is based on. Though alternative psychology works mostly with more practical matters like family issues, compatibility, relief from depression and tension, it helps in choosing the right life path, profession and a spouse, in recovering from physical illnesses and getting rid of psychological complexes, in finding a way out of series of misfortunes, and in many other things. But without understanding the basics described above, it is impossible to fully help a person. Although this concept sounds like religious postulates, we cannot relate the alternative psychology to any religion; it is rather practical realization of its postulates.

Many people get frightened of such “unscientific” terms as God, soul, unconditioned love, subtle body, etc. From my point of view, based on my experience and latest scientific achievements, these terms and concept on the whole are incomparably more practical and science-based than the concept stating that everything in the world is accidental and considering a person as a pile of chemical elements originating from an ape with consciousness having developed in some unknown way.

Has anybody reflected on why the greatest psychoanalytic of the present Carl Gustav Yung did not consult patients above 35 years old who did not believe in God, as he considered them incurable? Here is another example: according to the World Health Organization report, the number of people with mental disorders increases every year, and in the near 20 years these diseases will be the most widespread. And this continues progressing in spite of the following facts:

  • The staff of psychologists and psychotherapists increases in direct ratio to the population, and now almost every American has his own psychoanalyst.
  • The number of mediums, fortune-tellers and parapsychologists grows extremely rapidly. According to statistics, there exists at least one specialist belonging to this category per almost every thousand people living in Moscow. The overwhelming majority of them claims to be hereditary magicians, capable to relieve you from any kind of illness or problem, to remove any damnation, to give you “a magic amulet”, which will bring you lots of money, health, a good spouse, etc. The same statistic report warns that in a few years in Moscow there will be 70% of people with psychological problems and disorders…

On the other hand, highly developed ancient civilizations, as ancient Arians or Tibetans, living in accordance with the above mentioned principles, had never even known of things like stress, cancer, divorce, depression, etc. Nowadays, more and more people approach alternative psychology and change their lives following its principles. The most vivid example of those, who joined it intuitively or received the knowledge from their spiritual masters, is Deepak Chopra, S.N. Lazarev, M. Norbekov, Luisa Hey and others. These people have healed themselves, made their lives happy and created systems, which have helped millions of people in changing their lives fundamentally and getting cured of “incurable” diseases. In different words, their systems describe the same principles mentioned above.

We recommend you to use this knowledge as well. And if you take it seriously, you will notice practically from the first day how wonderfully it works. The first step is to take responsibility for our lives, to understand that by our thoughts and actions we create the reality around us. And further… further if we have a strong desire, then the entire Universe will help us to walk along this Path (they say, if a disciple is ready, the guru is always there). It is a path to real love and genuine happiness.

With best wishes to everybody, Ramie Bleckt.
