Welcome to Applied Behavior Analysis
We know you are out
there watching us, waiting. Afraid of us, afraid of change. We are a
definite threat to psychology. The bridges between cognitive psychology and
behaviorism are coming together which is a good thing because then the behaviorist can
cross and take over.
The field of
behavior modification has all the signs of an emergent and successful science:
It stimulates research, suggests ideas, arouses disbelief and promotes
resistance. It incorporates known empirical findings within logical consistent
frame works. It abstracts out relevant factors from the natural complexity
of the environment for observations. It is comprehensive yet
parsimonious.
In science,
new ideas are first resisted, then gradually accepted, then seen as genius. It
is these pioneers that
push the human race forward and as some see them as the crazy ones, we see
genius because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the
world are the ones who will do it.
