Pilates Information:
Pilates Mat is a series of simple, fluid and efficient exercises performed in a flowing sequence. The exercises alternate tension and relaxation, contraction and full extention to give your body strength and stretch. Throughout the routine you are using your entire body with the focus on the abdominal and back muscles by using them to move other body parts or to be a base of stabilization. All of the exercises in the routine build this strong center while stretching and strengthening the spine, neck, arms and legs. The various movements and body positions are specifically designed to work small intricuit muscles and larger muscles in a balanced way, so that all muscles are utilized, leaving you with a body that not only looks better, but feels better. Special attention is given to the alignment of the spinal column to improve posture and lubricate and rejuvenate the cushiony, cartilaginous discs in between your vertebrae. Some of the exercises in the pilates routine might not seem all that difficult to perform, but to perform these simple, efficient exercises with proper alignment and a smooth rhythm requires your complete concentration, awareness and strength. The end result of performing pilates on a regular basis is a graceful, strong, and supple body along with a sound and focused mind.
