Voters Beware

Why Restore Paper Balloting?

Only two groups will benefit from electronic voting, the broadcast media (TV, & radio) and the politicians themselves. The voters will lose out in numerous ways.

There have already been some very suspicious "wins" in Nebraska, where an ex-Diabold executive was the first Republican elected to the senate in 23 years.

Most of the nation did not care how long it took to find out who won the 2000 Presidential election as long as the result was fair. Only the media and candidates were upset.

So why the rush?

I'm a former systems programmer who knows how computers can be fixed, they can do anything you want them to, while appearing to do something else and electronic voting cannot be traced 5 years from now, or even tomorrow.

Paper ballots have one problem. If you don't for yes or no on an issue or vote for any candidate for an office, a dishonest poll worker can "fill it it later". However that can be fixed by allowing you to vote for "none of the above".

Paper ballots take time to tally but they can be checked and re-checked even years later if fraud is suspected.

Don't let them tell you that the machines can be "made safe" by creating a "paper trail" that you can validate your vote.

Don't let the same politicians who are claiming our states are broke spend millions on electronic voting machines, because the punched card systems don't work. Why go from bad to worse?
