| The short story of a long story Ashley came to California as a loser, labeled with every possible thing. She had no friends, she was the new kid. Ashley strived to fit in and be popular, but to her dismay she was stuck in a corner. Is Ashley willing to sacrifice herself to reach this goal? Without a doubt she did. She got a complete makeover, and a whole new wardrobe. By the time she hit her 9th grade year, she wasn¡¯t a loser. Ashley wasn¡¯t popular, but people knew her. She spent hours in front of the mirror, and money on her clothes. She gave in to conformity, being like all the other teens in her school. But Ashley wasn¡¯t happy. Ashley hated pleasing other people, and soon began hating herself. She didn¡¯t know who she was, and didn¡¯t like who she was becoming. Finally, towards her junior year in high school, Ashley gave up. Conforming was ridicules, and impossible to do, so she began to write. She spent endless hours writing away in her beat up notebook. She spent endless hours dwelling on her life, and what her goals were, and who she wanted to be. Finally it hit her, and it hit her hard. Ashley began to transition into a woman. Not who the world wanted her to be, or want her parents wanted her to be, but who she wanted to be and it sticked. |
