Hockey back in Buffalo
As the NHL free agency period begins, (thank god its back) the Buffalo Sabres appear to be pretty well off with the new Salary cap that the NHL and the NHLPA agreed on. the Sabres currently have 7 players under roster, but dont worry only 2 of the Sabres unsigned players are unrestricted free agents (Both veterens Zhitnik, and Patrick)

Stafford No.1 Pick
Stafford is not projected to be a 1st line NHL player but that doesn't mean he won't become one as many players grow beyond expectations. Above his skills perhaps the most important thing to remember about Stafford is his work ethic, the kid just flat out shows up every game and works hard. Stafford is a strong two-way forward, very responsible defensively. He is a smooth skater with a very good burst and acceleration. Stafford is a grinding, physical player with good hockey sense and awareness. He has drawn comparisons to Ryan Smith but for Sabres fans perhaps a more familiar comparison might be Mike Peca without the devastating open ice checking that is Peca's hallmark. Stafford may not be a blue chip prospect but the consensus opinion seems to be he's a "can't miss" NHL prospect. The Sabres will likely encourage Stafford to stay in college for at least another season or two..
