The doofus with the Z06 and the big mouth keeps using your name in vain. Those of us who've been at the track and have seen you drive know what you're about.

I'd suggest asking the doofus to include you out, but that rarely works with a knothead like that.

See you at Carlsbad! I'll be the guy behind you in the Blue Cobra. I can't launch worth a damn.

John

It's that attitude in perticular that gives Vette owners everywhere bad names.

I find it funny that Vette guys down play Mustangs, Viper owners down play Vette owners, and Porsche and Ferrari guys downplay everone.

Maybe the saying is true, adults are just big kids with money.

Look in the Kill Section here. A friend (46Stang/Leon) lent me his 03 Cobra with bolt-ons so I could race against my wife in the Z06. First time I ever sat in a Cobra, I ran 11.95 in it. With practice, I could have run 11.7 or better I believe, as I tagged the limiter twice.

It's very difficult to get good ET's at Carlsbad on street tires. Last weekend there were 2 bone stock Z06's there and they both ran ~13.0 if I remember right. They spun through first and second gear.

If you must run street tires:

Go early. Best traction is usually early in the day before the rice drags water all down the track.

Go about 24 psi rear, 45 front.

Remove all possible weight. If you run 13.001, by removing one floormat would have you in the 12's.

Run in Lane 1 with the fast cars. Wait until 4 or more of them get into line, then get in behind them. They are wearing full slicks usually, and will make the track nice and sticky for you.

Our clutch needs fixing (hyd issue), so as soon as we get it into the dealer, we'll be back on track.

See ya at the track!

I own both a 03 Z06,and a 02 Saleen Mustang ,and love them both. Please don't put 02zo6 in the same company as all vette
owners. There are alot of Z06 owners that love all kinds of performance cars no matter what they are .I think for
the money a Z06,and a Cobra Mustang are both great bangs for the buck.

Did I come off a little strong? Yes. Has my opinion changed? No. A Mustang is made to compete with the Camaro. Corvettes are in another class. Im just tired of hearing the comparison between the Corvette and Mustang. There is nothing to compare.

Just an observation, but if your tired of it why comment? It would make sense to just move along to a site that pretty much dedicates itself to road racing, as opposed to a site dominated by strip times.

Then why are the camaros built anymore and how come the c-5's are getting beat by the 03's. I guess the reg. C5 is the "GT" of the vette world.

It all depends on what you want. Nice 2 seater? Vette. World's fastest four seat convertible? Cobra. Great track car? Vette. Fastest dragster for the money? Cobra. Sports car? Vette. Muscle car? Cobra. Different cars built for different people with different priorities. Different strokes for different folks. If they made a four seat convertible Z06 I might have bought one. There are benefits to both.

Can't we all just get along?

Except for 02ZOHsix. You are a jerk-off.

This guy is a totall loser.First if you were making all that money, you wouldnt be so upset about a mustang beating a vette.News flash...rich guys own exotic cars, and usually more than one. Why would he have trouble beating a Zo6 on the freeway? That is easy for 2.80 Cobras. He has a kennebell. You are a punk!I dont believe any of your story!I dont believe you have a kid in college. You are not mature enough. If I thought vettes were better than Cobras I would own one.2nd newsflash...If you can afford a new Cobra you can afford a z06.I have a 03 Cobra vert,a 02 Gt vert,(both modded)a 4 year old 2 story house in a new subdivision 18k home theatre, every video game system known to man,go on a trip about 1 a month, eat out about 5 times a week,cable,satelite,2 cells...etc...and Im a #uckin waiter. What is the big deal about this kid owning a Cobra. You are just envious because he's younger, better looking and has a better car than you!Just because somebody is doing somthing you were not able to do at that age is no reason to call them a liar.If vetts are so much better then what are you doing on the SVT site?

First off : good kill.

Second: Just like to point out that not all of us Z06 owners spend our time bashing Cobras on the internet.

I know what a Cobra is, and what it is capable of. I've raced stock ones and modded ones which are owned by friends of mine.

On the other hand, not all Z06 owners are in the midst of a midlife crisis, with a bad toupee, and a Mr.T starter kit around their neck.

Again, I have raced a modded '03 which was making 455-461 @ the time. Here is the deal with that. From a dead stop we raced to 150, and I led him by about 2 car lengths. In all 4 races from a dead stop I beat him. We raced 4 times from a roll. In all of those cases he beat me by 1 - 2 car lengths. At the time, my car was stock, and made 358 RWHP. Since then I have pulled the lid off my factory airbox and picked up 15HP to 372.

As for the times in a Z06. My car when it was 100% stock ran 1.85 60' / 11.933 @114.52. With ET Streets and the lid off it went a 1.675 60' / 11.596@118.56. Just like with any car, there are some drivers who just get a bit more out of their cars. You will see times and ability vary by driver.

I saw a blown z06 making over 520RWHP driven by a guy who had no skill @ all run a 13.20. Sure, there are lots of Z06s who probably run 12.7-12.5s with inexperienced drivers. But, then there are sme that might suprise you.

Anyhow, props to any and all of you who enjoy your cars and drive them like they are supposed to be driven...

I'm not sure if this has been established yet in this thread, but I got tired of searching for it after page 4. How much boost are you running with the KB?

If my lousy driving can take one down, then a better driver with better mods could easily have dropped the ZO6. It's not invincible. Nor would I call it the top of the food chain. I'd take a viper over a vette any day.

No prob Steve..and thx. I'm being selective in what i read **trying to ignore 02ZOH's posts 'till race day** I was running 17psi at the time. I'm at 19psi now using a Reichard pulley..still able to use 94 octane. Haven't dynoed the car yet, hopefully this week.

Hey man I was bored the other day and watched that video of you two again. Man was that a good race, it was definetly won at the light because you gus were like glue down the strip. I also thought I would say that I love the sound of that Z06 hunting for traction, woohoo.

I just finished an autocross this past sunday. Had to try my hat at that. It was pretty fun, I must admit, but it's back to the drag races next time. I think I use up a lot less tire at the strip

We can rematch any time you like. No going on your own though, because if you practice then I won't be able to win! As I've said on the other post, I only got you at the light, and that's something you can fix easily/quickly. I'm always up for racing, even in this lousy weather. Just give me a shout and we'll meet up and head to the track again .
