HIV, Human Immunodefiency Virus and AIDS, Acquired ImunnoDefiency Syndrome are transmitted through and live in the blood. HIV can be transmitted through anytype of sexual intercourse, sharing needles from drugs or tatooes/piercings, or a pregnant women to her baby. Symptoms which include unexplained fever and weight loss may not appear in an infected person for up to 10-12 years. HIV weakens the immune system, that allows other diseases or infections to cause severe damage.There is no cure for HIV/AIDS but antibiotics can reduce damage to the immune system therefore prolonging life. You cannot get HIV/AIDS from :

- casual everyday contact
- giving blood
- hugging, sneezing, or couhing
- insects amd animals
