Shirley's Current Online Classes

How do online classes work?
Online classes are a new convenient way to learn how to create works
of art, right from your own home. Here's how it works:

1. Visit the class link above. Choose your class, then email me
with your name, class title and date of the class, using the email
link in step one of "How Do I Sign Up?".

2. Shortly you will receive an email with an invoice that allows you
to pay for your class through PayPal (free to use and no
registration or membership is required).

3. I will then send you an invitation to the private "classroom"
where you can accept my invite to join the group. Then you
can download the class supply list on the link called "Pages"
in the right-hand green column. This will give you time to look
for (or order) any needed supplies.

4. Once the actual class date arrives, the lesson will be posted
using the class title, also on the "Pages" link. The lesson
will consist of lots of photos and text that will walk you through each
step of the process. You can save the file to your hard
drive, print it out, or both.

5. I will be available to answer any questions that you might have
from about 7PM-9:30PM PDT that evening. Interaction between
students is possible as well. So send me questions and comments or
even photos of your work-in-pogress for any help you may need!

6. The class will stay 'up' online for two weeks after
the lesson is posted in case you need to download it a little later.

*A great aspect of this style class, is if you happen to get busy
or something prevents you from starting right away, you can
come back to your downloaded information at a later date and
have no problem making the project. I don't really recommend this
as you miss a lot of the student interaction.

What's the best thing about online classes? It doesn't matter
where you live in the world - or what time zone you are in - you can work at
your leisure. Work in the middle of the night or the middle of the day.
It's up to you.

Make Your Own Custom Rubber Stamps (#RS101)

Date: Tues., July 23rd
Cost: $20.00
This exciting July 2009 class will introduce students to
a NEW Stamp !t kit by JustRite that contains everything you need
to get started making your own designs into rubber stamps. All
you need to provide is a simple 60-watt lightbulb to create your own
light-activated translucent stamps. No carving at all! Just think
of the possibilites. Polymer and metal clay artists (such as myself)
are loving the custom texture and design possibilites,
we're makiing signature stamps, .999 silver markings and so much
more! Of course you can stamp traditionally with inks as well.

Custom Design Focal Beads/ Scarf Pins (#PIN 102)

Date: May 8th Fee: $25.00
This bead lovers class will teach you how to create long focal
beads that can be added to specially designs scarf/shawl/sweater
pins, or used in your jewelry pieces. I will show you how to create
raised designs from purchased (or self made custom design light
activated) rubber stamps (a separate class), and matching
dangle charms for your pin.

Liquid clay techniques are included as well as jewelry assembly, wire
wrapping and color combos that work best for this technique. The pin
sample was an inspiration project featured in Shirley's new book
"Polymer Clay Mixed Media Jewelry" by Krause. We've received emails
requesting a lesson for this pin and so in response I are offering this class.
