Box Instructions
Note: Instructions for assembling the cupcake box kits are printed on the back
of the kit, although here are a few tips I learned along the way.
I like to use the easy Advanced Tape Glider from Scotch 3M. It is easy to apply,
just place at the top of a box tab, pull trigger and pull it towards you.
Let go of the trigger jsut before you wnat the tape to stop. It cuts away automatically!
I chose 1/8" to 1/4" May Arts ribbons to tie the tags onto the boxes. They wrap
around under the layered flowers. I also love the sheer wider ribbons for
box embellishments and headbands (instructions below).
Tip: It is advised to line your cupcake insert with waxed paper or tissue
before inserting your cupcake.
1. If you want the lid to fit snugly, when you are taping the sides together,
place the seams on the base and the cupcake insert (with large center hole)
spaced slightly apart from each other (a little separated) rather then
lining them up exactly on the folded seam. Then, while making the
lid, 'overlap' the seams slightly instead of lining them up perfectly on the
edges. If the lid stilll seems a little larger then the base, I sandwich a
1/2" cirlce (two-sided adhesive) dimensional foam dot or small piece of foam
tape between the inside of the cupcake box lid and the band that fold under
the lid (press band over the foam to hide it).
2. You can fill your box with cookies, bakes goods or a gift, so easily, just
remove the cupcake insert (with the hole).
Ribbon Covered Headbands and Flowers
May Arts beautiful ribbons have many uses including an easy way to decorate
headbands. If you choose a sheer ribbon it is best to use semi-translucent
white headbands as they show through, or a simialr color to the ribbon.
Before gluing or taping, make sure the ribbon is wide enough to overlap to
the underside of the band, at least 1/8" although 1/4" is even better.
Headbands that will be wrapped (like the thin headband on the left of the
photo) can have any color underneath as it is totally covered up.
A. Secure on end of a long piece of 1/4" wide grossgrain ribbon on the underside
of one end of the band, at an angle, then begin wrapping it very tightly at
an angle around the band. Overlap each wrap and watch out for creases. Apply
tape every 4 or so wraps to the band. When you reach the end fold under the
end and secure. trim as neccessary.
The bow is formed with two loops one ach side crossign over each other. I place
a clothes pin to hold them together until I tack them in the center with
some thread. add the center vertical wrap, starting and ending
on the bottom side of the band.
B. I used a 'sheer pull flower wired' ribbon for the wide headband in the center
of the photo above. I secured two-sided tape up against the edge on the
bottom of the band and pulled the ribbon around the edge to secure. You will
notice that you will overlap more ribbon the closer you get to the ends of
the headband. You may trim the ribbon as needed. Keep the middle thin ribbon
centered on the headband as you work. Wrap the ribbon under the ends of the
band and secure. Trim as needed.
I then created an easy ribbon flower by pulling the wire on ONE side of the
ribbon to gather the edge, formed a circle and taped to secure. I taped a
rhinestone in the center and secured it to the band with tape as well, just
in the center of the flower. Wrap the ribbon under the ends of the band and
secure. I created the box flower in the same manner, using a little shorter
length of green/blue sheer pull wired ribbon and secured it over the largest paper flower
and under the smallest flower on the box top.
C. This style was actually the easiest to make and is quite pretty. I simply
secured the pre-formed roses ribbon to the headband. Wrap the ribbon under
the ends of the band and secure.
