Stamping and Embossing Metal

Stamping Design

1. Cut a piece of metal larger than desired shape.
2. Separate the two stamp designs and ink tree.
3. Stamp design a little higher then the center of metal (if adding words).
4. Ink and stamp the leaves design for a spring or summer tree plate. For a fall tree, ink only a selection of leaves using applicator and stamp in place, then add extra leaves at the tree base.
5. Heat for 30 seconds on a protective surface to set ink.

Embossing Design

1. When metal is cool, place metal on foam sheet.
2. Emboss designs with point of wood tip by press tool right over markings. This is the
back of your plate.
3. For the Winter tree, add random embossed dots for snow from the back side of metal.
4. Use punch tool to add the season's word-see package for instructions on use.
5. Cut design to final shape (slightly smaller than item to be embellished).
6. Add stitch lines (from the front or back side of metal) using a quilt wheel if desired.
Use a ruler as a guide for straight lines!

Finishing Projects

One: (Shown on hanging pocket tin) Leave copper shiney, as is, or, heat with tool in random spots for a good length of time close to the metal to turn it various colors of orange, red, deep pink or blue. Overheating produces a silver color. To bring out detail, sand raised areas.
Two: (Shown on album cover) Rub design with ink using applicator, then wipe away exces with paper towel to antique. Leave as is or heat copper. To bring out detail, sand raised areas.
Three: (Shown on planter) White wash the copper surface by painting with acrylic paint. To bring out detail, sand raised areas.

SECURE copper plates to hard items such as an album cover, tin pocket, wood planter, etc. using 7800 adhesive and allow to dry flat and level overnight.
