inspiration for the party....

Painting The Tea Set & Cupcake Boxes

1. Wash your dishes with hot water and a good de-greaser dish soap (such
as Dawn liquid), rinse and dry them well.
2. Using a large flat brush, apply a coat of the surface conitioner
to all of the surfaces to be painted and let dry. Do not wipe off,
as this allows the paint to stick to the glossy surface.

3. Dip a 1/4" flat brush into the Lime Green paint and apply rectangle
strokes to the edge of the plate. My samples have ridges, but
if your is smooth space them 1/2" apart.

4. Using a round brush, paint two leaf shapes as shown. When dry
paint a basic five petal flower overlapping the leaves and let dry.

5. Paint leaves around the largest plate (salad) as well as near
the top edge all around the teapot (photo coming) with a large
pointed-round paintbrush. Paint a five petal flower in the
center of the plate and both center sides of the teapot.
When dry, use a round sponge applicator
to add a larger dot
in the center of the flower.
6. Paint the round mache boxes solid using acrylic paint colors that
match the PermEnamel paints and let dry.

Clay Covered Paper Mache Cupcakes

1. Knead four squares of each of the clay colors until soft and pliable.
Run through the pasta machine at the thickest setting and then
the the third thickest setting to make a 1/16" thick sheet. An
acrylic roller tool may also be used.

2. Cut one clay color into 1/4" wide strips using the suer slicer
with the safety end caps and add to box for strips. Then, use
the larger floral cutter to create the frosting on the top
of the cupcakes (which is the bottom flat area of the round box),
which will stick to the painted surface well.

3. Roll a small ball of "Whipped Cream" (white) colored clay
and place in the center of the frosting to raise up the whipped
cream. Cut several small Whipped Cream (white) clay teardrop
shapes and add them, overlapping in a circle, to the frosting.
These cut out tear shapes can also be used as flower petals or
leaves on your additional cupcakes (refer to tray of cupcakes
photo above). You can add a round ball of fuchsia clay
on top as a cherry.

4. Place green leaf tear shapes onto the top of the box, then add
tear shaped petals overlapping them. Place a ball of clay in
the flower center then press in place with the largest style
and design rounded end tool as shown.
5. Bake the cupcakes on a foil lined cookie sheet as directed on
the Studio clay package, remove from oven and allow to cool completely
before touching. You can apply a finishing coat of Studio
Glossy Glaze with a 1/2" flat paintbrush, to make the cupcakes
look even more spectacular!

Tinting Glass

This photo shows a vase that I have applied Surface Conditioner to
and then painted lime green on the inside. Once dry the vase can
be filled with water for this special bouquet that my neice
Elizabeth arranged for today's show. It was also her bedspread
that was the creative pattern I followed for all of the
segment's accessories.
