iPOD Covers for Dads & Grads AM Northwest Demo
by Shirley Rufener airing on May 22, 2006

Trying to figure out what to get your special Grad or Dad?
How about a custom designed iPOD cover! It's so easy to decorate
these great little covers with professional results using Sakura's
"Sticklers"! Kits contain metallic outline stickers and
"Glaze" or "Soufflé" pens for coloring them in! It's a
great way to distinguish your iPOD from anyone else's.

Materials

~Sticklers™ self adhesive metallic die-cut sticker and 3-D
pen sets (*Sakura)

~Glaze™ Pens and Soufflé Pens (*Sakura)
~Plastic items such as iPOD Armor clear cases (by
Matias-online at: www.ipodarmor.com)
~Rubbing alcohol or vinegar
~Lint free paper towel or cloth
~Designs that you like (i.e. sports team logos etc.)
~X-Acto type craft blade knife

Glaze pens feature glossy transparent colors on lighter surfaces
and when used on clear plastic– give a “stained glass effect”.
Soufflé pens offer matte opaque pastel colors and work well
on darker surfaces such as cell phones and PDAs.
Both 3-D pens adhere to a wide range of surfaces - and
yet can be removed by carefully peeling off the sticker and colors.
*Sticklers kits and extra Glaze and Soufflé color sets can be
purchased at your local craft store and online
at the:

Sakura Website (aka GellyRoll)

Easy Directions!

First, some Helpful Tips:
*Remember that the colors of the Soufflé pens will lighten and
become opaque (more solid) after they dry (See butterfly
photo below). And, the colors of the "Glaze" pens will
become more transparent (see-through) and glossy when dry.
* BLENDING: Blend two colors together (with pen tip of second color)
immediately, while they are still very wet!
*ADDING a SECOND LAYER of DETAILS: Do not try to go
over a painted area while it is already drying. If another
layer is desired, wait until the ink is completely dry,
then add details.
*Leave decorated item flat while drying to prevent the glaze from
pooling on one side of a design.
1. Clean the iPOD cover with rubbing alcohol or vinegar and dry
with a lint free paper towel or cloth.
2. Slowly lift the Stickler design from sheet and place one edge
in desired position on your item.
3. Allow Sticker to slowly fall onto surface. Rub with finger to secure.

4. Begin filling in with pen color, writing slowly. If blending
two colors together, apply the first against the outline of area,
leaving an open space in the center. (See step 1 in photo above.)
5. Dot second color in open area (step 2 above) and blend the two
together (step 3) with tip of second color.
6. Fill all sections and allow to dry about 20 minutes.
7. If you make or mistake, or want to change the design later,
simply remove sticker and use fingernail to remove the
color. Clean surface and re-decorate!
TIP: To remove just a section of color, gently outline with
the tip of a craft blade and scratch away the color film.

~Coloring trick: After filling in a Stickler sticker with Soufflé
colors, LET DRY, add layered details with another color
if desired, and LET DRY again. Then simply remove sticker.

Using A Pattern

1. Photocopy or print a reduced size pattern to fit inside the
iPOD cover.
2. Trace just the outline slowly with white Soufflé pen (or
chosen color) and let dry completely.
3. Fill in the sections with Glaze or Soufflé pens and let dry.

4. If solid areas or lines are desired, simply apply Glaze or
Soufflé color on iPOD, and let dry.
