Basic Clay Rose Instructions

1. Mix 3 parts Translucent Premo clay with 1 part White Bake & Bend and roll into a smooth ball.
2. Flatten clay to a 1/16" thick sleet with roller tool and secure onto ceramic tile.
3. Cut out 4 small circles, 4 medium circles and 6 large circles from clay sheet for petals.
4. Remove scrap clay from around shapes.

5. Dip soft brush into powder, tap off excess then apply Pearl Ex powder to the outer 1/3 of the petal (clay circle).
6. Thin the petal edges by rolling the clay shaper tip arcoss it and pressing downward lightly.
7. Shape circle into a spiral (rosebud) with a base 'tail' as shown above, curling edge out and downward.

8. Continue adding all medium and only 5 large rose petals in the same manner placing petals up against the base,
positioned between two previous petals until flower is complete.

9. Use remaining large clay circle for a leaf. Pull one area to form a point and fold leaf upward
forming a crease into the center, but NOT allowing sides to stick together.
10. Thin the leaf edges by rolling the clay shaper tip arcoss them as before.
11. Apply green powder (as before) around leaf shape, and highlight with gold powder in the center.
12. Attach leaf under rose firmly, then cut tail off of rose with craft knife leaving a flat surface for finding.

Attaching Findings

1. Lightly sand the center back of the clay flower with sand paper to give it 'tooth'.
2. Attach the finding (jewelry back piece) using 7800 adhesive and allow to dry flat overnight.
3. Pin to your wardrobe or onto the items listed in the introduction above.

Flower Variations:
You can create all types of flowers with this basic method just by using various sized flower shaped cookie cutters. Faux floral stamens (in bags at your craft store) can also be added to the flower center. Simply fold stamens in half and secure with a piece of thin wire to secure. Then secure your petyals to the stamen stem, poking the wire through each thin (1/32") clay flower, and bunching them up as you attach them to stem.
TIP: Test stamens for heat safe non-melting types ahead of time!
